THE BUZZ: HORNETS PLAYER NOTES

FINDING IT FROM RANGE: Hornets guard LaMelo Ball scored 17 points going 6-for-12 from the field, including 5-of-8 from 3-point range in a win vs. Dallas on Mar. 19. Ball has remained one of the league's top 3-point shooters throughout the season as he currently ranks 18th with 174 made 3s and made five or more 3s in 10 games this season, including in each of his last three games since Mar. 14. This marks the second time this season that Ball has knocked down five-plus triples in three or more consecutive outings as he is just one of four players this season with multiple streaks of three-plus games making five 3-pointers along with Steph Curry, Zach LaVine and Fred VanVleet.

In franchise history, Ball ranks 11th for made 3s in a single season, currently trailing Devonte' Graham (179) for 10th. Over his last three games, Ball is averaging 20.0 points and 8.3 assists per game while making 5.0 3s per game and shooting connecting on .577% of his 3-point tries while tied for the most made 3s (15). Among players to attempt at least 15 shots from behind the 3-point line during the three-game stretch, he ranks third in 3-point field goal percentage, as Ball has found great success from beyond the arc on the above the break 3 with 13 of his 15 triples coming from above the break; he ranks tied for second in this time in made 3s above the break.

LEADING THE WAY: Hornets forward Miles Bridges has played a large role in Charlotte's current four-game winning streak after he had his third 20-point game in that time, posting 23 points, eight rebounds and two blocks in a win vs. Dallas on Mar. 19. Over his last four games, Bridges is averaging a team-high 23.5 points, 6.3 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game while shooting .600% from the field, .609% from beyond the arc and .933% from the free-throw line. He is just one of three players along with Nikola Jokic and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to post 20.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 6.0 assists per contest while shooting .500% or better from the field and the only player also shooting at least .500% from 3-point.

Over the four-game period, Bridges is the only player to shoot .600% from the floor and 3-point range in that time (min. 35 FGA, min. 15 3FGA) as his .609% 3-point shooting percentage ranks first in the NBA over every player's last four games among those who have attempted at least 15 3-pointers. Bridges has also knocked down 647% of his 3-point attempts on the catch-and-shoot, including 11 of Bridges' 14 3-point field goals made over his last four games, tied for ninth in the Association in catch-and-shoot 3s

AN ALL-AROUND GAME: Hornets guard LaMelo Ball had another all-around performance in a win against the Hawks on Mar. 16, posting a game-high 22 points to go with 11 assists and eight rebounds. For Ball, this marked the 21st time this season that he has had at least 20 points, five rebounds and five assists in a game, which is tied for 12th in the NBA. In franchise history, he is third all-time in games with 20-5-5 as Ball passed Larry Johnson (1992-93: 20) and trails Kemba Walker for second by just a single game (2018-19: 22). With his 11 assists, Ball also notched his 19th double-double of the season, including his 15th point-assist double-double.

He currently ranks 10th in the Association this season in point-assist double-doubles and 11th in games with 10 or more assists (15) as Ball has now tallied 20 points and 10 assists in seven games, the second-most in a single season in franchise history, as his 7.4 assists per game ranks as the 10th-best assists per contest output in the league this season.

TERRY'S 30-POINT TEAR: Hornets guard Terry Rozier scored 30 points on 11-of-17 shooting for his third 30-point contest over five games from Mar. 5 - Mar. 14, including 25 points or more in four of those outings. Rozier totaled 57 catch-and-shoot points and 19 3s on the catch-and-shoot, which also led the Association during the five-game window.

Rozier has made eight appearances in March as he has had 25+ points in five of his eight games this month and is posting 24.1 points, 4.9 rebounds and 5.0 assists while recording 2.3 steals per outing. He ranks fourth in the league in steals per game and is fifth in total 3s made (35) in March.

This is the eighth time this season that the Hornets have had a game where Ball, Bridges and Rozier each tallied 20 points as they are 5-3 in those instances this season.

Charlotte is the only team this season with a trio of players averaging at least 19.5 points per game as Ball (19.7), Bridges (20.0) and Rozier (19.7) are helping the Hornets average 49.0 points per game when all three players share the floor together. The Hornets trio ranks 17th in scoring amongst three-man lineups that have appeared in 45+ games together and 13th in assists per contest, averaging 12.2 per outing.

CONSISTENT SCORER: Miles Bridges scored 23 points on Mar. 19 vs. Dallas, his 37th game of the season with 20 points or more and he also notched his 13th double-double vs. Brooklyn on Mar. 8 after recording his ninth 20-point double-double this year vs. Detroit on Dec. 27. He has scored 10+ points in the paint in 42 games this season and ranks tied for 14th in total points in the paint (372) since the start of 2022.

Bridges has had a career season, averaging 20.0 points and 7.1 rebounds per game as he also added five rebounds and five assists vs. Chicago on Feb. 9, his fourth consecutive game with five-plus assists, a new career long streak. He has found tremendous success in the restricted area throughout the season, making 298 of his 438 attempts (.680%) from that spot on the floor, which is above the league average of .647% shooting in the restricted area. Bridges ranks fifth in field goals made in the restricted area and among players with at least 300 attempts from there, his field goal percentage ranks 13th in the Association.

This marked the fourth time it was done by a Hornets reserve, joining Dell Curry (2, 12/19-12/22/92) and Malik Monk (2, 2/24-2/26/21; 2, 2/12-2/20/20).

ANOTHER HORNETS MILESTONE: After climbing his way into the top 10 among Hornets 3-point field goals franchise leaders and finishing with the fifth most made 3s in a single season (222) during the 2021-22, Hornets guard Terry Rozier knocked down four 3s at Indiana on Jan. 26 to surpass Larry Johnson (508) for the fourth most made 3s in a franchise history as he currently has 590 career triples with Charlotte. At New York on Jan. 17, he eclipsed Nic Batum (496) for fifth all time in 3-pointers in Hornets franchise history overtook Devonte' Graham (431) for sixth all-time in made 3s on Nov. 27. He capped off another milestone with four 3-point field goals vs. Cleveland on Nov. 1 which then put him at 402 during his Charlotte tenure as he became just the seventh player in franchise history to reach the 400 made 3s mark, doing so in his 135th game, which made him the fastest Hornets player to 400 treys, passing Devonte' Graham (157).

Rozier recorded his 30th career game with the Hornets where he has knocked down five-plus 3-point field goals at Chicago on Nov. 29 after making six 3s as he passed Devonte' Graham (27) for the second most such games in franchise history on Nov. 22. He now has 41 career games with five or more 3 with Charlotte after making seven at New Orleans on Mar. 11. In team history, the Hornets have had a player make eight or more 3s in 16 games with Rozier doing so in a franchise-leading five games, which also surpassed Graham (4).
