Study Schedule

Consider the number of days you have to study before each Midterm.

Make a schedule detailing which days you will study for each exam.

Schedule how many hours each day you will study.

Methods for Studying

As always, I advocate a multi-sensory, multi-night, active approach to studying for a test. To truly understand information you must go over it multiple times! You must interact with your content.

Strategies

- Study in hour blocks, GO HARD then rest…

- Study with proper lighting in a quiet place

- If listening to music, it should be soft without many words (Distracting!)

- While the above are true, don’t get TOO comfortable!

- Note cards

- Cheat Sheets

- Quizzing friends/study groups

- Review Notes, Highlight Key Info

- Answer section review questions and do Chapter Tests in text

Things to Keep in Mind

- Get enough Sleep

- Be positive

- Stop studying at least 1 hour before an exam

- If you adequately prepare, there is nothing more you can do!!!

Test Strategies

- Answer questions you know first, then go back and answer harder ones

- Take a time out if you are experiencing exam panic

- Read all answers before making your choice on multiple choice questions

- Use process of elimination

- Your instinct is more often than not correct

- Arrive early. Bring everything you need. Bring extra stuff too.

- Be certain you understand all directions.

- Review the entire test and organize your thoughts before beginning.

- Look for clues in the questions.

o *read questions carefully

o know exactly what is being asked:

▪ does the question have multiple parts?

▪ multiple negatives?

▪ qualifiers?

▪ absolutes?

▪ any key words or phrases?

▪ agreement clues (i.e., single or plural) ?

▪ space clues (i.e., long or short answer)?

▪ look for answer clues in other questions

- when you answer short answers , provide too much information rather than too little

- be concrete and factual unless instructed otherwise

- Keep your work neat.

- Review your answers before you hand them in.

- Don't worry about what anyone else is doing in the test.

- Think positive. Do your best. Breathe.

Content Review: This is not meant to be a comprehensive list, but a solid list to guide your studying for the Honors World History mid-term.

2/ Be able to place the above “terms” in the appropriate location on the map (example- The Habeas Corpus Act was signed in England).
