Psalm 139:1 Lord, you have probed me, you know me: You know when I sit and stand; you understand my thoughts from afar. My travels and my rest you mark; with all my ways you are familiar. Even before a word is on my tongue, Lord, You know it all.

Behind and before you encircle me and rest your hand upon me.

2014 KCLA Membership Breakfast October 4, 2014

Prepared by: Linda Norfleet, Co-Chair

Ladies, On behalf of Co-chair Helen Walsh, myself, and President Bettyann Tompson, I'm sending a huge, heartfelt thank you to each and every one who participated in this year's KCLA Membership Breakfast. What a great group of women the KCLA is!! Saturday's event was truly awesome in numbers attending--both guests and members; in the sponsored program for Yes-on-1; in the beautiful appearance of the social hall in the Family Life Center; in the number of lovely gift baskets assembled from your donations and time; and last but not least, for the fantastic buffet breakfast provided by the membership that can't be enjoyed at the finest restaurant in Middle Tennessee!

Most everyone worked in many different, overlapping ways to pull this off; it is impossible for this pea-brain of mine to remember exactly who did what. So let me first thank all of you who provided a food item for the breakfast which, I think, was most every one of the membership! You gals are wonderful cooks, but we all know that. Now many others know it, too.

Thank you Barbara Goodman for your wonderful help with publicity and creating the promotional flyer, donation box signs, and sign in sheets. You helped to get everything off to a great start!

Thanks to Mary English, Christi Sanders, Gail Cantrell, Francie Duffield, Angie Thompson, and Pat Porter for putting in time at the Breakfast sign-up table after all the Masses for three weekends. This is a vital, initial component of the entire event.

For putting in time to help us fill and wrap gift baskets (after filling the food jars for Fall Fest), our thanks to Mary English, Jeanne Mehsling, Angie, Brittany, and Amber Jones, Ellen Dammann, Elaine Bustillos, Gail Cantrell, Joann Doss, Wen Marcec and Noreen Prenzler.

For helping us decorate the social hall so beautifully the day before the breakfast, we greatly appreciate the time, creativity, and energy given by Elaine Bustillos, Peggy Fiato, Susan Russ, Camille Multra, Pam Wegenka. We all greatly enjoyed Fr. Pat dropping in with Coti for a visit while we decorated, and are grateful for his unfailing support throughout all of the planning stages.

2

Special thanks, too, for his program attendance and the lovely prayer of thanksgiving and blessing Fr. Pat offered at the end.

Our warm and welcoming greeters made everyone feel at home on arriving and throughout the duration of the Breakfast. Thank you Jaselyn Taubel and Pam Wegenka; Peggy Fiato; and Kathy Roberts for coordinating everyone's nametags, and Gail Cantrell for a fantastic job with membership.

Close to 75 individuals attended--a record number for the Membership Breakfast over past years-from which at least six new members have joined our ranks. We are thrilled to welcome aboard Susie Alves, Janet Youmans, Darlene Beardsley, Constance Pryor, Jan Marks, and Roberta Bolus, and look forward to seeing them at our next meeting.

Thank you, Ellen Dammann, for the timely, timeless meditation on 'Trust' that you took such thought to put together, and offered to those assembled before the meal.

Thank you Angie Jones, Candace Gilligan, Mary Blevens, Barbara Goodman, Jutta Granger and Francie Duffield for helping to hand out those humongous, but wonderful gift baskets; thank you, Camille Multra, for overseeing the YES-on-1 petitions.

Basket Winners included Francie Duffield, Beth Heckel, Anne Donelon, Fred Bourland, Janet Youmans and Bill Walsh. Also, fifteen jars of our special KCLA cooky recipe mix were given away.

For the usually thankless task of clean up, we are forever grateful to the many of you who pitched right in to help after the Breakfast ended; Lorine Bourland (dishwasher extraordinaire), Angie, Brittany, and Amber Jones, Christi Sanders, Elaine Bustillos, Angie Thompson, Susan Russ, are just some of the selfless, helpful souls who put everything back into place. If I've overlooked anyone, please accept sincere apologies for the failing brain circuitry responsible for my lack of memory, and know how very much your effort means to us all.

Where would we be without the help of our men??? So many thanks to Bill Gunter's set up crew; Luis Bustillos for help with decorating, assisting the featured speaker, clean up and numerous other ways; Bill Walsh for decorating, and the wonderful pictures we all look forward to seeing; Carl Duffield for the technical assistance he provided to speaker Myra Simons--there wouldn't have been a program without him!! Lee Brideau, Mark Heckel, Kent Russ, and others for helping and being so ready to help in many understated ways. And thanks to all of our knights who attended the program and gave us their full support just by being there! A special shout out goes to Miles Walsh for being a remarkably well-behaved young man for his years, throughout the preparation as well as during the program--what a guy!!

Finally, I personally want to thank Co-chair Helen Walsh for her tireless energy, phenomenal memory of "how to do things", and knowledge of where to go for anything. I also want to thank President Bettyann Tompson for her moral and physical support of this annual effort (and everything else KCLA related); it's not enough to just let it happen, she jumps in at every level and helps to make it all happen. These two ladies are members of a rare breed--the best!! It's been my

privilege to work with them, both, in different capacities and now--together--in this latest KCLA activity. I'd do it again, any day. Many hands worked to put this event together from the planning, decorating, organizing, baking, and attending in support of the KCLA. Thank you!

The decorating "ladies". Thank you!!!!! 4

Welcome New KCLA Members! We are happy and excited to welcome the following

new members to the KCLA: Susie Alves, Darlene Beardsley, Bert Bolus, Nicki Florida, Dot Jordan, Wen Marcec, Jan Marks, Connie Pryor, Mette Smith, Janet Youmans. They are joining Julia Combs, Noreen Prenzler, Jennifer Seagraves and Sandi Trabert as "older" new 2014 KCLA members. Welcome, one and all! The KCLA Facebook page is a closed group which means only KCLA members can be in the group. There is only one exception - Father Kibby is a member. If you do a search for St. Stephen KCLA Group you should find the group. It is easier if you are a friend on Facebook to someone in the group but not necessary. Any member can add another member and a notification is sent to the Admin (Helen Walsh) who verifies and approves. If you have a problem joining the group, please let Helen know.

Knights October Social Night. Lots of folks attended the Oct social night Monday night (Oct

20th) sponsored by the Knights. Lots of sharing going on from fellowship, food, and pictures of Holy Land visits. Thanks Fred and Lorine Bourland and to all that spoke of their visit to the Holy Land. A special thanks to Carl Duffield for organizing this event. It was great Carl! Also, special shout out to Francie Duffield for my favorite food of the night - red cabbage - yum!
