In the absence of the Approved Provider and the Nominated Supervisor, a person will be nominated as the Responsible Person for the day-to-day management of the approved Service (PIDTDC).The Responsible Person must: Be 18 years or olderHave adequate knowledge and understanding of the provision of education and care to children Effectively supervise and manage an education and care serviceConsent to the role of the Responsible Person Agree and be willing to be placed in day-to-day charge of the education and care service DUTIESIN RELATION TO THE CHILDRENEnsure children do not leave the Service premises except in accordance with the National Regulations (emergency evacuation situations; risk assessed excursions)Ensure children are adequately supervised at all times Ensure children are not subjected to corporal punishment or unreasonable discipline at any timeEnsure children are protected from harm and hazard Ensure children are respected and their rights are being met (United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child -CRC)Ensure that a parent of a child being educated and cared for by the Service is given access to their child at any time Ensure any unauthorised person is not given access into the Service, unless the person is under direct supervision Ensure adequate health and hygiene practice and safe food handling procedures are implemented Ensure the preparation and storage of food adhere to relevant food safety standardsEnsure children’s health needs are supported Ensure accurate and detailed records of injury/illness/accident/trauma of individual children are recordedEnsure accurate medication records are completed and comply with National RegulationsSupport children’s individual wellbeing, including sleep, rest and relaxation IN RELATION TO THE PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENTEnsure all daily checklists (indoor and outdoor safety, daily cleaning etc) have been completed Maintain respect for the learning environmentMaintain resources and equipment for each room Maintain a clean, health and safe environment for children, staff, families and visitorsAssist the Service to ensure environmental sustainability practices are embedded in all areas of the program IN RELATION TO COLLEAGUES Lead, guide and support all staff to adhere to Service policies and proceduresSupport educators to implement the educational program, philosophy and legislative requirements Maintain correct educator-to-child ratiosFacilitate a team approach with staff to achieve Service aims and goals Ensure required documentation has been completed Respect and support staff, developing positive relationships based on mutual respect, equity and fairness Act as a mentor and role model for other educators and staff IN RELATION TO THE PROGRAMPlan, implement and evaluate programs which reflect the emerging skills, interests and developmental requirements of children Ensure developmentally appropriate practice (DAP), reflecting the Early Years Learning Framework is embedded in the educational program Foster children’s learning through modelling and implementing an aesthetically pleasing learning environment, responsive of children’s interest, strengths and abilities Implement intentional teaching strategies to scaffold and guide children’s learning Follow the Service routines, utilising learning opportunities to strengthen children’s understandingsPromote and engage in critical reflection Ensure the educational program is clearly displayed and assessible to families IN RELATION TO GOVERNANCE AND LEADERSHIPThe Responsible Person will have a strong understanding of National Regulations, National Law and Code of Ethics and work in accordance with these regulations and lawEnsure they uphold the Service’s philosophy when undertaking the Responsible Person duties Ensure to comply with the Service’s policies and procedures Assist with administrative duties as requested Inform management of issues that may arise in their absence Advocate for children and their families Be involved in and assist with the ongoing development of the Quality Improvement Plan Keep up to date with current developmental practice and research Continued:NOMINATED RESPONSIBLE PERSON CONSENT FORMI, _________________________________________________________________consent to being a Responsible Person for _____________________________________________(name of education and care service).I have received, reviewed and understand the responsibilities of the role and acknowledge that as the nominated Responsible Person I am responsible for the satisfactory execution of these responsibilities.
