SUMMER WINES

Summer calls for an entirely different style of wine than the rest of the year. Instead of the heavy, powerful wines that accompany the cuisine of cooler weather, try something light and refreshing. This does not preclude red wines either. We've found several that quaff a thirst and match lighter foods too.

Summertime is also a great time of the year to experiment. Throw off the Cabernet and Chardonnay shackles. Wine lovers of the world unite! You have nothing to lose but ponderous over-oaked white wine. By golly, try a cool refreshing Riesling. How about a crisp Sauvignon Blanc from California or New Zealand? Amaze your friends with a dry Ros?. (See page 4). There are so many styles of wine out there it seems a shame to concentrate on one or two types, no matter how delicious they are.

Green's has selected 16 wines made from 11 different grape varieties made to enjoy during the hot weather. All were picked for their ability to refresh and entertain.

-THE ROS? EXPERTS THE 2015 VINTAGE HAS ARRIVED!

"Few wines are as easy-drinking, refreshing or as versatile as ros?. With the warmer days of summer... it is time to start stocking up on these flavorful sippers, which are best served well-chilled to allow their subtle fruit and spice flavors to shine through. The best are also zesty enough to match well with lighter fare, such as grilled poultry or seafood." The Wine Spectator

"There's nothing better on a sultry day than a wonderful bottle of dry ros?." Robert Parker

ROS? SEASON HAS BEGUN!

Over a decade ago, before Ros? became popular again,

had introduced our customers

to the joys of drinking dry Ros?. It is the perfect summertime wine. Cool and refreshing, and usually

moderately priced, Ros? is meant to be consumed without pretense. It is "just" a fun wine that is

delicious by itself or with almost any food.

FRENCH

Cuvee Royale Tavel Ros?-2015

Green's Cash Sale Price: $14.99 The terroir of the vineyard of this wine is entirely "gal?ts roules," the same large smooth pebbles found in Chateauneuf-du-Pape. These stones reflect the heat toward the fruit during the day, and retain, and slowly release, heat throughout the night. The grapes get unusually ripe here. Made from Grenache (50%), Clairette (11%), Cinsault (20%), Picpoul and Bourboulenc (10%) , Carignan and Syrah (9%), this Tavel is rich and powerful. Possesses a deep pink color and ripe cherries on the bouquet, this dry, rich, ripe red fruit flavored wine is one of the most concentrated Ros?s we carry. If Chateauneuf-du-Pape made a Ros?, this is what it would taste like.

GREEN'S WINE BUYER

Dme de Paris Cote de Provence Ros? 2015

garrigue and soil intensity can be found throughout this dry wine."

Victor Costieres de Nimes Ros?-2015

Green's Cash Sale Price: $10.99 What a beautiful Ros?! It's hard for me to select a favorite of this group as I liked them all, but if I had to point out just one it would be this wine. It's got everything; an elegant light to medium pink color, a red fruit and watermelon-like aroma, and a flavor that is the perfect balance between acidity and fruit. It is from Costieres de Nimes, just west of Provence in the southern Rhone Valley.

GREEN'S WINE BUYER

Chateau Cornut Costieres de Nimes Ros?2015

Green's Cash Price: $9.99 "This dry ros? from Ch?teau Cornut displays ripe raspberry and strawberry. It is very fresh and crisp in style, with a juicy, crowd-pleasing middle palate. The intriguing finish is enhanced by hints of wet stone and slight notes of smoky herbs."

Domaine Fazi Ros? Ile de Beaute-201

Green's Cash Sale Price: $9.99 This is the fourth year we've been able to source this wine and it has become one of our customers' favorite Ros?s. Made from four grape varieties, 35% Sciaccarellu, 30% Merlot, 25% Grenache, and 10% Cinsault, the major component, Sciaccarellu, is a native grape variety of the island. Close in appearance to the Pinot Noir grape, the wine from this grape displays an aroma similar to Pinot as well.

"Oeil de Perdrix" in color (that's fancy French talk for very pale Ros?), indeed it has a light tint of bronze blended with
