Change each of the following sentences to an ablative absolute phrase. 3 pts each, 15 total.

Example:

Procedure:

In this example, you are changing the sentence “Puer ā mīlitibus vīsus est,” an independent clause translated “The boy was seen by the soldiers,” to the ablative absolute “Puerō ā mīlitibus vīsō,” a phrase translated “With the boy having been seen by the soldiers…”

1. Identify the subject of the independent clause and change it to an ablative noun.

a. Puer ā mīlitibus vīsus est: Puer ( Puerō

2. Identify the perfect passive verb of the independent clause and change it to the perfect passive participle.

a. Puer vīsus est: Vīsus est ( vīsus

b. N.B.: If the verb is a form of “sum”, linking the subject to an adjective or another noun, then make that adjective/noun ablative rather than using a perfect passive participle.

3. Make the ablative PPP the same number & gender as the noun that was the subject.
