Student Program for Summer Employment, Co-op, and Internships

Overview of Program

The objective of the Student Program is to provide college-aged students, through challenging responsibilities and training, the opportunity to gain real world, practical experience that will assist them in their development of professional skills that will complement their academic program and enhance their career opportunities. During the course of the program, participants will be introduced to the full range of operations within the Company.

Additionally, the Student Program is an integral aspect of the Company’s Talent Management Program and is intended to support our efforts in developing a talent pool for future full-time career opportunities.

Program Requirements

Students interested in either an internship or co-op opportunity should be at least in their sophomore year of college with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and pursuing a business, operations management or agricultural degree. They should also demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills.

The Company will provide opportunities for interested college students for full-time summer employment as well as part-time year around employment.

Schedule

The Company will work with the individual student participants to develop a mutually agreeable schedule that balances both work and school responsibilities. Typically, internships and co-ops schedules will be coordinated in conjunction with the student’s school schedule and will run approximately 12 weeks. Normal work hours will be determined by company and student needs. Monday through Friday with some Saturdays.

Compensation

Participants that are in the internship program will be paid at the rate of $15.00/hour. Participants, at high school level will be paid in accordance with Bay Valley’s seasonal PayScale. Transportation and housing will be the responsibility of the student.

Mentorship

Participants will meet regularly with the Director of Human Resources as well as other Company managers to review their learnings and answer any questions.
