Gilgamesh Comic Strip Project
Gilgamesh Comic Strip Project
English II
The purpose of this project is to demonstrate your knowledge of the plot sequence and key points of The Epic of Gilgamesh, while applying the use of inference and your own creativity in depicting how the characters and settings are portrayed in each of the stories. Use of textual, character, and thematic analysis will be exercised with this project.
• Your comic strip must contain 8 squares total:1 for the Title, 1 for the Prologue, 1 for The Battle with Humbaba, 1 for The Death of Enkidu, 1 for The Search for Everlasting Life, 1 for The Story of the Flood, and 2 for The Return.
• What you choose to depict in each square must communicate the key points and major details of each story.
• Your comic strip must be COMPLETELY in color (no white space) and reflect your best work, regardless of your artistic abilities (you are not assessed on your art, but the level of neatness and effort!). You may use whatever coloring medium you wish (crayons, colored pencils, markers, etc) but it must be done by hand and not on the computer.
• Divide a sheet of long white paper (provided) into 4 squares on the top and bottom of the front. The comic must take up the entire front page (nothing on the back).
• Use of dialogue or narration is required for each square (word bubbles and/or words in the picture), but does not have to involve quoted text from the epic.
• You must include a caption for each square explaining the picture.
