| (1) JOB IDENTITY |

|POST TITLE: Family Support Worker |

|LOCATION: Marleon House, Elgin |

|REPORT TO: Service Manager |

|SALARY: £11.41 p/h (£17,799 p.a) |

|HOURS: 30 hours per week |

|(2) JOB PURPOSE AND WAY OF WORKING |

|To be part of a team of women, children, and young people’s support workers. You will deliver an intensive specialist support service to|

|women and their children who are or who have experienced domestic abuse throughout Moray. You will provide a coordinated response to |

|families supporting their emotional wellbeing, assisting them to develop meaningful relationships within the family unit and the wider |

|community. |

|(3) MAJOR TASK, JOB OBJECTIVES & RESPONSIBILITIES |

|1. To conduct whole family assessment to assess the family’s need, liaising with other professionals and acting as the Lead Professional |

|as appropriate |

|2. To deliver family support sessions with mothers/carers and children designed to rebuild communication and develop strong parent-child |

|relationships. |

|3. To work in partnership with mothers/carers to identify children and young people’s support needs and to ascertain the level of support|

|needed and the type of activities required to meet their needs. |

|4. To provide direct and intensive interventions to support families to make required and sustainable changes. |

|5. Develop and implement a support plan that empowers women and their children to become independent in every aspect, in line with the |

|aims and objectives of Moray Women’s Aid. |

|6. Develop and maintain a supportive and positive environment in which women and their children feel valued and believed and can build up|

|their confidence and self-esteem. |

|7. To support mothers to enable them to understand and support their children emotionally and practically and to build confidence in |

|their own parenting skills. |

|8. To develop and deliver one-to-one support programmes for children to enable them to explore their experiences of abuse and address |

|issues arising from this. |

|9. To design and deliver family sessions for mothers and their children to build confidence and participation within a mutually |

|supportive environment. |

|10. To promote women, children, and young people’s participation in all aspects of service delivery and development. Contributing to |

|monitoring, evaluation, and the further development of the service in consultation with women and their families. |

|11. To work effectively with partners from a range of children and adults’ services to meet needs and improve outcomes for children, |

|young people and their families who require additional support. |

|12. To engage partner agencies in the development and delivery of an agreed integrated support plan relevant to identified needs. |

|13. To maintain appropriate records and documentation in line with Moray Women’s Aid’s agreed case file standards and ensure progress and|

|achievement of outcomes is effectively and appropriately evidenced. |

|14. To raise awareness of the impact of domestic violence on women and children and of the Moray Women’s Aid services |

|15. To carry out detailed monitoring and evaluation of all support work and keep an accurate record in line with relevant legislation. |

|16. Maintain records that are accurate, up to date and that reflect the progress of the service user in accordance with the National Care|

|Standards and complies with the Data Protection Act 1974. Records also require to accurately reflect the progress of the service user in|

|a manner that promotes independence, diversity, and equality. |

|17. To ensure the National Care Standards, Health & Safety Legislation, Moray Women’s Aid policies and procedures and the SSSC Codes of |

|Practice are actively practiced. Contribute to all policies and procedures, systems to meet the requirements and standards complying |

|with the National Care Standards, ensuring that all documentation is in line with legislative requirements. |
