Background:
Lifeline of Ohio is an independent, non-profit organ procurement organization (OPO) whose purpose is to promote and coordinate the donation of human organs and tissues for transplantation.
Mission:
Lifeline of Ohio saves and enhances lives by realizing every opportunity for donation among those we serve.
Oversight:
Lifeline of Ohio is federally designated by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to facilitate the donation process in Central and Southeastern Ohio and two counties in West Virginia. As a licensed tissue bank, Lifeline of Ohio's tissue recovery services are regulated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Lifeline of Ohio is a member of the United Network of Organ Sharing (UNOS), a government-chartered nationwide network operating under HHS. ().

Lifeline of Ohio provides donation and procurement services to 71 hospitals. LOOP's professional staff is available around-the-clock to evaluate, manage, recover, preserve, allocate and transport organs and tissues for transplantation. Additionally, LOOP provides hundreds of community education programs to schools, civic groups and businesses each year.
