¿Qué hora es?- What time is it? Es* la una - It’s one o’clock y cuarto- quarter past
Es mediodía- It’s 12 noon Son* las …- It’s ……o’clock y media- half past
Es medianoche- It’s 12 midnight menos cuarto- quarter til ¡Vamos!- Let’s go!
tarde- late
* Remember son is used for telling time other than one o’clock.

TALKING ABOUT BEING LATE OR IN A HURRY
¡Date prisa!- hurry up! (Él/ella) Está atrasado/a- He/She is late.
Tengo prisa- I’m in a hurry Estoy atrasado/a- I’m late.
TERCER PASO- DESCRIBING PEOPLE AND THINGS
¿Cómo es Fred? – What’s Fred like? Él/ Ella es alto/a.- He/ She is tall.
¿Cómo son Fred y Susie? – What are F & S like? Ellos/ Ellas son altos. - They are tall.

difícil- difficult * Remember a word describing a noun is called an adjective.
fácil- easy The words to the left and below are adjectives.
grande- big Most adjectives in Spanish match the gender of the noun (m/f),
inteligente- intelligent but some don’t. When you see o/a at the end of a word it means
interesante- interesting that you need to match the gender of that noun.
aburrido/a- boring pequeño/a- small guapo/a-handsome;good-looking
cómico/a-funny *mediano/a- medium bonita/o- pretty
divertido/a- fun, amusing estricto/a- strict feo/a- ugly
alto/a- tall simpático/a- nice bueno/a- good
bajo/a- short (to describe people) antipático/a-disagreeable malo/a- bad
moreno/a- dark haired, dark skinned nuevo/a- new *delgado/a- thin, skinny
rubio/a- blond viejo/a- old *flaco/a- thin, skinny
pelirrojo/a- redhead joven- young person *gordo/a- overweight
Starred words (*) are vocabulario extra. Other words for *pretty are hermosa, linda, bella, guapa.

¿Cuál?- Which ¿ Por qué es español tu clase favorita?- Why is Spanish your favorite class?
¿Por qué?- Why? Me gusta el español porque es interesante.
