Concrete nouns

A concrete nouns may be one of the following three types.

1. A proper noun

is a noun that names one particular

Person , thing , place …. Etc.

Such a noun beings with a capital letter .

2. A common noun

is a noun that names

persons and things of a kind.

e.g.

3. A collective nouns

Is a noun that names a collection of

People , Animals , Or things considered as a complete whole.

A crowd (a number of people)

A flock (a number of sheep) .

A herd (a number of cattle).

An army (a number of soldiers) .

A forest (a number of trees) .

Note : if the individuals of the group are implied , the verb is plural

The cabinet consists of ten members.(collective)

The cabinet have given their consent .(individual implied)
