How to Convert Print/Digital Document to MP3 Audio File

Convert print document to MP3 audio file and save the file for later use:

o Step 1: Please read the Fair Use Guidelines for Copyrighted Materials below:

• Implicit upon the use of this equipment, is your agreement that you are:

➢   Allowed to convert the material to a media file only for your own course-related needs;

➢   Not allowed to convert your entire text book;

➢   Not allowed to post the media file on the Web, YouTube, or any other public site;

➢   Not allowed to sell, transfer, or lend the media file to others;

➢   Not allowed to duplicate the media file;

➢   Not allowed to broadcast the media without written consent of the owner;

➢   To delete the file upon completion of your coursework;

➢   Liable and subject to prosecution if any of the terms of the agreement are violated.

o Step 2: Open Kurzweil 3000, and type in your user name;

o Step 3: Place the document on the Scanner, and click on Scan on the Toolbar; Or open the

digital document by clicking Open on the Toolbar;

o Step 4: Select a voice, reading mode, reading speed, font size (from Reading Toolbar);

o Step 5: Click on File on the Menu Bar,

▪ Choose Audio Files; then choose Create Audio Files;

▪ You can choose to convert a whole document, or selected pages, a voice, reading speed, etc.

­ Choose Output File:

▪ Format: MP3; then type in a file name. Click on OK.

o Step 6: Click on Kurzweil 3000 Output Audio (on Desk Top). You should see your MP3 file

name in the Output Audio folder. If you can not find the Output Audio folder on your Desk Top, please go to this folder: c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\KESI\Output Audio\

o Step 7: Click on the file name to save it, or read it.

o You may use Windows Media Player, iTune, or QuickTime to play the text speech on your Desk Top; Or play it with an iPod, or a MP3 player.
