We are currently seeking to hire a Cost Accountant. The Cost Accountant will be responsible for partnering with Sales, Marketing, Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain to deliver standard cost calculations during the annual budget process and for new and revised products, analyzing operational and purchasing variances, and frequent discrepancy audits of current rolled costs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Performs work order variance analysis on a daily basis, providing root cause and corrective actions with Operations collaboration.

• Analyzes operating cost including ad hoc studies incorporating labor and machine hours, capacity and utilization, purchase price variance and make/buy analyses; as well as other cost related projects.

• Assist in month end close of general ledger including reconciliations, journal entries and explanations of trends and discrepancies.

• Analyzes and sets standard costs of new and revised products and frequent review and analysis of standard costs for existing products.

• Maintains the integrity and accuracy of standard cost.

• Analyzes inventory adjustments and collaborates with production and warehouses to determine root cause and corrective action.

• Audits cycle count activity, selection of items to be counted, recount decisions, research of discrepancies, and reporting on root causes and progress toward making improvements for greater quantity and physical accuracy.

• Provides cost analysis support to cross functional areas as requested.

• Creates cost analysis reports via reporting tools, collaborating with Sales & Marketing, Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and peers in Finance to formulate corrective actions.

• Adherence to the company's accounting policy and practices and U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting required. Additional coursework in Cost Accounting highly preferred.

Experience:

4+ years of cost accounting experience with a minimum of 2 years in a manufacturing environment required. Background must demonstrate a sound understanding of manufacturing and cost accounting principles. Prior experience/use and proficiency of ERP software systems, MS Office Suite, and reporting tools required. Experience at a consumer packaged goods manufacturer is a plus. Designer experience in reporting tools, ZAP, Atlas or Tableau is a strong plus.

Skills & Abilities:

Strong technical accounting skills and experience with cost accounting systems in a manufacturing environment. Must be highly proficient using ERP systems and MS Office products. Must have strong interpersonal skills; work well with associates at all levels; be able to influence and motivate others. Must possess strong analytical and organizational skills, and be able to handle and prioritize multiple tasks. Must have a strong work ethic, possess high integrity, and exercise sound judgment.
