COTA to Launch Redesigned Bus Network -- More Service, Better Service, coming May 1, 2017
Bus service throughout the region will be enhanced when the Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA) launches a redesigned bus network on May 1. The Transit System Redesign (TSR) is a complete
overhaul of the COTA network that will provide simplified routes, increased frequency, consistent service seven days a week, and service to more people and more jobs.

EXPANSION OF THE FREQUENT BUS NETWORK
The number of bus lines with frequent service arriving every 15 minutes or better will more than double. These simple, frequent, easy-to-understand routes form the backbone of the new COTA system.
Pre-TSR: Frequent Network (weekdays only)
Post-TSR: Frequent Network (seven days a week)
NUMBERS
Increased service on the weekends:
? Saturday service hours increase by almost 50%
? Sunday service hours increase 120%
Service to more jobs:
? 110,000 more jobs within a ? mile of high frequency service (265,000 total)
? 24,000 more jobs within ? mile of any service (548,000 total)
Service to more residents:
? 103,000 more residents within a ? mile of high frequency service (219,000 total)
? 18,000 more residents within ? mile of any service (529,000 total)
BACKGROUND
2013: COTA analyzed the entire bus network.
2014: COTA sought public input on various transit scenarios through public meetings, an online survey, and focus groups
2014: The proposed network was approved by the COTA Board of Trustees based on allocating 70% of bus service to highridership lines, and 30% of bus service to coverage lines to major destinations in less dense areas.
2015 & 2016: COTA collected feedback on the network, made adjustments, educated stakeholders, finalized the network, and
