HEAVENLY KIDS

PRESCHOOL AND CHILDCARE CENTER

Summer Camp Parent Handbook

Heavenly Kids is a licensed Christian preschool operated by the families of Calvary Assembly of God of Kissimmee.

Heavenly Kids Preschool is dedicated to the mental, physical, social emotional and spiritual development of your child. The goal of our school is to provide a quality educational program that challenges and encourages children to achieve their fullest potential. We recognize each child as a precious gift from God to each of his/her parents, and we pledge to always show God’s love by our words and deeds. Therefore, each teacher and childcare worker has been chosen to reflect the ideas and goals of the school. We teach Christianity, not doctrine, in our school. We admit students of any race, color, religion, or nationality.

A Service

Heavenly Kids Preschool is operated as a ministry of Calvary Assembly of God of Kissimmee. We invite you to join us in worship and to consider making our congregation your church family. If you are already an active member of a neighboring Christian congregation, we rejoice with you and affirm your affiliation with that church. However, if our church and our Pastors can be of any assistance to you in any way, we invite you to seek them out.

Student Admission

No child will be refused admission to the summer program, nor be dismissed from the program for reasons of race, color, religion, or creed. However, the school administration reserves the right to refuse admission and/or dismiss any child whose behavior is disruptive and harmful to other children.

If the behavior is not showing improvement, then the child is taken to the administrator or director, then the situation will be discussed with the parent. The school administration reserves the right to dismiss any child whose behavior is disruptive, and harmful to other children or themselves. WE DO NOT PRACTICE THE DISCIPLINE OF CORPORAL PUNISHMENT (spanking).

Withdrawal Policy

All withdrawals must be officially conducted through the school office. You will be charged tuition until withdrawal procedures are completed.

Child Drop-off / Pick-up

The Summer Camp hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Students must be dropped –off no later than 9:30am. Arrangements must be made in advance for any medical appointments for later arrival. Each full-time student is provided a total of ten hours of childcare services per day. After the tenth hour of childcare services each additional hour will be a charge of $10.00 per hour.

If your child is picked-up after 6:00 p.m., your account will be assessed an extra $20.00. If your child has not been picked-up by 6:15 p.m. your account will be charged an additional $1.00 fee for each minute there after. All late pick up fees are due no later than the following day the child returns to the center.

Who is allowed to pick-up your child?

Our policy states that no child will be release to anyone not having proper I.D. On the enrollment form you should list all persons who have permission to remove your child from the Preschool premises. The individual must be at least eighteen years of age. A list of these persons is placed in the child’s classroom. The attendant on duty will check this list. If the person’s name appears on your child’s pick up list your child will be released, but only after proper I.D. is shown. If you need someone who is not your list to pick up your child, you must send in a signed and dated note to that effect. Parents, you may also be required to show I.D. if the attendant on duty does not recognize you. This is for your child’s protection and is not meant as an inconvenience.

Clothing and personal items:

Please do not let your child bring personal items from home (this includes toys). With so many children in our care, it would be difficult to keep up with extra items. We try to teach every child to be responsible for his/her own things. So basically it is your child’s responsibility to keep up with extra personal item such as coats, sweaters, etc. Of course if your child is a toddler, we will assist them. Each child age 2years to 6years old must always have a change of clothing at the summer camp. Children that wear Pull-Ups/Diapers must have4 extra Pull-Ups/Diapers per day and their own wipes. For all two-year olds, please provide 2 changes of clothing, including socks, per day.

Baby feeding bottles, pacifiers or Sippy Cups are not allowed.

ALL ARTICLES MUST BE LABELED

Dress Code

All summer campers are required to wear t-shirt and shorts/pants at least their middle fingertip in length. No short shorts or skirts will be allowed. Remember camp activities include running, climbing and jumping so their attire must be suitable for the activities. Children who have HKP Polo-shirts are allowed to wear that shirt as well. Shoes should cover and protect the feet and allow for safety in running and playing. All children must wear shoes/sneakers.

*No Floppy shoes, Open toed Sandals, Boots of any kind, or Jellies are allowed.*

Toilet Training

When your child is toilet training, please dress him/her in easy to remove clothing. Remember that we have many children and need to be able to work quickly. When dressing your child choose clothing without buttons and buckles as this will ensure easier potty training. They must have several changes of clothing and lots of pull-ups. PLEASE LABEL EVERYTHING!

Sleeping Mats/Towels

A sleeping cot will be provided for each child, ages 2 years through 4 years old, however, a small crib sheet and a blanket must be supplied for nap/quiet time. The crib sheet and blanket will be sent home each Friday to be laundered and return on Monday. Please mark your child’s name on all items sent to school with a permanent marker.

Rest Period

All children 2-4 years old will be given a rest period. Sleeping is not mandatory, but they must rest quietly on their cots during this period of time.

Jewelry/Money

DO NOT send your child to summer camp with jewelry, money, or other small items in their pockets or on themselves. Small items are dangerous among children. The school cannot be responsible for these items.

Lost and Found

The lost and found box will be located in the Preschool office. Items will be kept for one month, after which they will be donated, to charity.

Forwarding School Records

It is the school’s policy to forward your child’s school records and health forms automatically to the next school upon request by the school or parent. No records are released if an unpaid balance remains.

Birthday Celebrations

You may send special treats on the day of your child’s birthday for sharing with the class. Please notify the teacher ahead of time, as another child may also have a special snack. If you wish to invite fellow students to a party out of the summer camp setting, please mail the invitations. Teachers or students are not to pass out invitations, as some children may feel left out when not receiving one. ALL BIRTHDAY TREATS ARE TO BE SERVED AT SNACK TIME.

Breakfast, Lunch & PM Snack

Breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack will be provided by the Summer Camp a menu is always posted inside the cafeteria, if there is an item being served that your child maybe allergic to we will need a doctor’s note in order for you to bring outside food for him/her. Students must arrive no later than 8:30am if they wish to have breakfast.

Medications

If a child is to receive medication during camp hours it must be a current personal PRESCRIPTION filled by a Pharmacist on a Physician’s order (in the original container). The medication must have a label bearing the child’s name, physician’s name, and directions for administering it to the child. This regulation automatically includes medications such as Tylenol, Dimetapp, Sudafed, and other home remedies. Your doctor can write directions for giving these medications on a current, “prescription” form. This form must be taken to a pharmacy for a label to be placed on the medication’s bottle. When taking an antibiotic, a child must be on the prescription for 24 hours before returning to school. When you bring in a prescription medication, you must also sign a medication permission form stating the time, dosage, and name of the medication that is to be given. Heavenly Kids Preschool will give medication at 12:00 noon. Please adjust your medication time to match this time. These forms are available in the school’s office and can be dated for that full week.

Health Tips

At school, during shopping trips, at the beach, or in the neighborhood, children come in contact with many communicable diseases such as flu, cold, chicken pox, and severe sore throat. DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO CAMP IF YOUR CHILD IS ILL OR HAS A FEVER, VOMITING, DIARRHEA, SKIN RASH, SEVERE SORE THROAT OR A BAD COUGH.

If a parent is called to pick up his or her child due to a high fever (100 degree or above) or for any of the above illnesses the child will not be permitted to return the next day unless a doctor’s note is presented that it is ok to return to school. They may return on the Second day if there is no sign of the illness for 24 hours. This also applies to any child sent home due to diarrhea, vomiting and runny nose that has colored mucus. If your child gets sick or injured at school, you will be called to pick up your child right away. If a child is sent home with lice or knits (lice eggs) the student will not be allowed to return to camp for two full days or (48) hours. Upon return he/she must be completely free of any visible eggs or lice. The school is not able to take care of students for long periods of time when they are ill. Staying at home when sick will help your child get well and protect classmates.

Insurance

A “Proof of Insurance Coverage Statement” must be signed by a parent and be filed in our files, giving proof that each child is covered by insurance. This should include name of insurance company, policy number, and an explanation of coverage. Heavenly Kids Preschool and Calvary Assembly of God carry the required liability insurance; but as with other schools, individual coverage of personal injury is the responsibility of the parent when a child is enrolled in program where tuition is charged.

Personal Records

If the school’s administration should decide to terminate Heavenly Kids Preschool Center the families enrolled at the center would be given at least two weeks’ notice of said decision. At that time the students files will be returned to the families and the remaining files would be held in storage for a period of five years. The files and all its contents would then be shredded. It is the school’s policy that records concerning an individual child are private and will not be shown to anyone other than the custodial parent. Routine school newsletters and progress reports will be sent to a non-custodial parent upon a written request. The student’s file will not be released for any reason. The health and physical forms will be returned upon withdrawal.

Changes in Address/Phone Numbers

It is the parent’s responsibility to make sure the office has the correct information regarding you and your child. Please notify the school office immediately of any change in address or telephone numbers, home or work. Up-to-date information will help us relate quickly any emergency situation that arises.

Selling Products and Solicitation

It is not possible to patronize all those who are in the business of selling Tupperware, Mary Kay, Avon, Shaklee products, etc. For that reason, the staff will not be purchasing any of these items while here at work on school grounds from parents who do sell them. The bulletin boards are not to be used for advertising, solicitations or sales.
