Dear Parent/Guardian:

Our goal this year is to ensure that every student attends school regularly. Showing up for school has a huge impact on a student's academic success starting in kindergarten and continuing through high school.

We realize some absences are unavoidable due to health problems or other circumstances. But, we also know that when students miss too much school ? regardless of the reason ? it can cause them to fall behind academically.

Clearly going to school regularly matters!

We don't want your child to fall behind in school and get discouraged. Please ensure that your child attends school every day and arrives on time. Here are a few practical tips to help support regular attendance:

Make sure your children keep a regular bedtime and establish a morning routine. Pack backpack the night before. Ensure your children go to school every day unless they are truly sick Avoid scheduling vacations or doctor's appointments when school in in session. Talk to teachers and counselors for advice if your children feel anxious about going to

school. Develop back up plans for getting to school if something comes up. Call on a family

member, neighbor, or another parent to take your child to school.

Let us know how we can best support you and your children so that they can show up for school on time every day. We want your child to be successful in school! If you have any questions or need more information please contact our school.

Did you know?

Missing even 1 day a month can put a student at academic risk. We know that students who go to school every day:

Are more likely to be reading on grade level by 3rd grade. Perform better on standardized tests. Are more likely to graduate high school. Have increased access to college and career readiness opportu-

nities.

Come to school everyday, And don't be late!

And attendance habits are formed early in the year ? students who go to school regularly during the month of September are more likely to continue with good attendance throughout the school year!

Dear Parent/Guardian:

Please help your child's classroom win the Bruno Award. The Bruno award is a traveling bulldog trophy that is presented to each grade level classroom that has the highest attendance percentage at the end of each month. At the end of the school year the homerooms for each grade level that win the Bruno trophy the most times will win a special prize.

Parents, we need your help. Please bring your child to school every day unless

it's absolutely necessary to miss school that day, and please try to limit the amount of early dismissals by scheduling doctor appointments for 3:00 or later so your child's academic performance and attendance record will not be affected.

Thank you so much for your help!!!
