GOALS - Clover Sites

GOALS

To provide a quality early education program built on (DAP) Developmentally Appropriate Practices and in accordance with Georgia Early Learning and Development Standards (GELDS), so each child can be challenged to learn according to his/her level of ability.

To encourage social development by providing opportunities for sharing, taking turns, making friends, resolving conflicts, solving problems, helping others, recognizing and accepting others, cooperating on projects, and building self-esteem.

To encourage emotional development through verbal expressions of thought and feelings; experiencing rules and limits; experiencing kindness, justice, and empathy; recognizing and accepting emotions in others; and to develop a respect for other individuals.

To encourage the physical development of large motor skills through outdoor and indoor games and activities, as well as fine motor development through the use of manipulative toys, blocks, and puzzles, and other small tools and objects. This will also facilitate the development of visual-motor skills.

To encourage creativity by offering many kinds of materials, and frequent experiences, in music, art, dramatics, literature, and oral skills

To encourage interest in language through stories, puppetry, dramatic play, group time, music, games, problem solving, and other conversations.

To develop spiritually through teachers who will build a love and trust relationship. This will help the child develop a solid foundation for spiritual growth. Children will have opportunities to hear Bible Stories and will be taught about Jesus. They will learn about God’s love and the world He created for them to enjoy.

To facilitate intellectual development by widening the child’s experiences in order to increase knowledge. Children will learn basic concepts and skills related to reading and math readiness, science and nature, and social studies.

“Do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them slip from your heart. Teach them to your children and to their children after them.” Deut. 4:9

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

2 Year Olds- Classes teach units using learning centers, crafts, stories, and a variety of “hands on” experiences in a semi-structured environment. Fine and Gross motor skills, social and emotional skills, as well as work habits are a big focus as your child becomes independent. Children are not required to be potty trained, but should be working on it. Special activities and guests include music, nature, and other experiences to enhance the learning experience.

3 Year Olds- Learning centers are used to encourage a child to explore and learn through a “hands on” approach. Special units are taught with the involvement of dramatic play, music, colors and shapes, numbers, books, crafts, puzzles, and manipulatives. Academics are introduced in the areas of math, writing, pre-reading, and social sciences. Worship, special events and guests add other experiences to enhance your child’s learning experience.

PreK-4 Year Olds- A preparatory Kindergarten program including introductions to academics and many learning centers. Centers include: art, science/nature, books, blocks, music, dramatic play, puzzles, and manipulatives. Teachers introduce skills needed for kindergarten such as pre-math, pre-reading, handwriting and social sciences in small groups and one-one-one. Parent-Teacher conferences are scheduled to inform you of your child’s progress and development of skills for kindergarten (inclusive of social, emotional, physical, spiritual, and academic skills). Special events are scheduled to include parents: Thanksgiving Play, Donuts with Dad, a Mother’s Brunch and Graduation.

Young 5-Kindergarten- This program is for young 5yr (fall birthday of Sept-Oct-Nov) thru age 6 yr who are ready for Kindergarten. This is a 5 day class that follows the basic outline of Common Core and QCC Standards of the State of Georgia. Handwriting, mathematics, reading, language arts, social studies, and science will be taught. The lead teacher will evaluate the children through out the year and hold Parent/Teacher conferences in the spring.
