CO-OP PLACEMENT at PLASP CHILD CARE SERVICES

PLACEMENT TYPES:

AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS

Working with staff and interacting with children in Kindergarten (4 & 5 year olds) or

School Age (6-12 years) in after school programs

PROGRAMS run after school from 3 to 6 p.m. – Multiple Positions

EARLY LEARNING CENTRES

Interacting directly with toddlers and pre-school aged children

FULL or Half Day mornings only – limited positions

OFFICE

Administrative assistant in PLASP Office with exposure to various departments including:

- Communications & Marketing

- IT

- Program

- Volunteer

- Accounting

FULL or half day – 2 to 4 positions

Co-op Placements at PLASP Child Care Services

For all placement possibilities at PLASP Child Care Services:

Students must:

• Be enrolled in secondary school and participating in the co-op program

• Submit a resume and cover letter with the application

• Complete an interview with PLASP

• Complete and submit a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check PRIOR to start at placement

• Participate in a PLASP Orientation and other training workshops

• Be responsible for his/her own transportation to and from the placement

• Be at the placement 10 minutes before the start time and remain until arranged finish time

• Have excellent organizational and communication skills

• Become part of the staff team and develop a good relationship with staff

Students must …

If interacting with PLASP children;

• Like and respect children and be interested in working with children

• Help the program staff plan, execute and participate in activities and special events that are fun for the children

• Talk with and listen to the children

• Play indoor and outdoor games with the children, bring ideas for crafts and games to the program

• Help to keep the program safe for everyone

If placed in the PLASP Office;

• Be willing to help office staff with a wide variety of tasks

• Complete assigned work paying attention to timelines and detail

• Develop leadership, initiative and other skills required in an office environment
