General Theory:

This document contains step-by-step instructions to create a Ghostcast bootable USB device.

Detailed Instructions:

1. Create Ghostcast Bootable USB drives.

1. Obtain the “Bootable USB” program from the Servicedesk server. Click the “Start” menu, and click “Run”. Type \\servicedesk and press Enter. If prompted for an account and password, type “etsguest” as the username, and no password. Navigate to Windows\Applications\Ghost, and download the “HP BootableUSB” folder.

2. In the folder you just downloaded, double click the “SP27608.exe” file. Follow the on screen prompts, and select all the defaults options. It will install on the hard drive in the “DriveKey” folder, and will create a shortcut on the desktop called, “HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool”.

3. Insert a USB device to be made bootable.

4. Double click the “HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool” shortcut, select the “Quick Format” box, and “Create a DOS Startup Disk” options.

5. Click the three dots “…” next to the empty box, navigate to the “HP BootableUSB” folder you just downloaded, and select the “Floppy Boot Sys Files” folder.

6. Click “Start”. NOTE: The device will be formatted, so if there is anything you wish to keep, copy it off before you proceed.

7. After it has finished, close the window, and eject the disk.

8. Put key back in and navigate to the “HP BootableUSB” folder you downloaded, open the “Ghostfile” folder, and copy of the files to the key.

9. There will be three files that are already on the USB key, and you will be asked if you wish to overwrite with new files, select “No”.

10. To change the type of card to be booted to, double click the batch file on the key that matches the card type. NOTE: The batch files start with “GO” and then have the card type at the end. EX: GO57.bat for the Broadcom 57 card, GO1000.bat for the Intel E1000 card.) If you do not know which card the machine has, look at the list below:

Optiplex GX1, GX110, GX150, GX240, some GX260, and Percision 340 = EL90X

Latitude D505 = E100B

Optiplex GX270, some GX260, and Percision 360 = E1000

Optiplex GX280, GX520, 745, Latitude D600, D610, D620, and D800 = B57

Latitude D510, and D520 = B44
