Mr. Boghossian is the owner and editor-in-chief of the biggest newspaper at Earl Haig Secondary, The Earl Haig Times.
This newspaper is the leading source for all political, business, sporting, entertainment, and real estate news.
One of the journalists at The Times recently got a job offer at a major news outlet in Europe and will be moving there in two weeks. As a result, Mr. Boghossian is looking to hire a replacement. The replacement will have good writing, editing, and technical skills.
Your assignment will be to compete for this position using the following criteria:
1. Using Microsoft Publisher, create your own newsletter with a theme of your choice (Politics, Sports, etc).
2. The paper must be four pages in length.
3. You must write two of the articles yourself. They must be at least 200 words each. Be sure to include your name at the bottom of the articles that you have written.
4. Find two other articles from the Internet (on business/technology related topics) and include it in your newsletter. Be sure to cite your sources.
5. Include graphics and images.
6. Include a table of contents on the front page indicating what each page of your newsletter contains.
7. Include two games (crossword, Sudoku, word jumble, etc), a horoscope, and the weekly weather.
8. Give your newsletter an original name
9. Use two attention grabbers (story, picture, etc).
10. Be sure to proof read your work when you are finished. Points will be deducted for spelling and grammatical errors.
11. Be creative!
