Précis: The FDA is moving from a reactive to a proactive approach to imports. With the development of new FSMA regulations, more responsibility is shifting to the trade industry. This panel will address various provisions of the law, where various regulations stand, future development goals, and FDA enforcement struggles. Précis: The Centers for Excellence and Expertise (CEE) is a major component for CBP’s Trade Transformation project. What CBP is calling a “game-changer” is a new concept to bring specialized knowledge to a team that will be a source of information for importers, brokers, and CBP to help develop more uniformity to the import process and allows CBP to learn more about the trends of specific industries. With the opening of six more CEE’s this year, this panel will discuss the interaction between CBP, the importer, and the broker to lead to more compliant entry processes. There will also be a dialogue on the development of processes and protocols for brokers to work with the CEE’s as this program progresses.
