Classroom Happenings:

Primary 1: There are mammals across the Ocean, two of which are whales and dolphins. Children learned a lot of interesting information about these sea creatures. They glued tissue paper on the Orca whales as our arts and crafts. All the students had a delicious thankful feast in celebration of the Pilgrims arriving in the lands of Indians for Thanksgiving. They made and wore Indian bands representing Native Americans.

Primary 2: Blue whale is largest animal in the world Whales and dolphins are not considered fish they are considered mammals like humans. We did an Orca whale craft project. The first Thanksgiving was celebrated by the Pilgrims after their first harvest in the new world in October 1621. At school we had a delicious Harvest feast and they made Native Americans headbands to wear during the Harvest Feast.

Primary 3: I recycle many things for my classroom. I recycled my Chinese exercise balls into a work that is very popular with my classroom. The Chinese exercise ball has a beautiful oriental etching on it that has a musical chime inside. Chinese balls are linked with traditional Chinese medicine and when you move the balls over your hand it stimulates acupressure points and helps to reduce stress with the pleasant relaxing sound. I call this work our Zen ball. The child uses the tips of the fingers to slowly guide the ball on the lined soft textured path. The movement stretches the hand/finger muscles while gaining strength hand coordination and finger dexterity.
