Project Timeline

DMAIC Strategy

• Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control

• Data driven, incremental strategy for improving processes

• Each step in the process is cyclical and required for the best possible results

Define 12/1/2008 – 12/19/2008

• Define who the customers are, what their requirements are for the project, and what their expectations are

• Define the project scope

• Define the process to be improved by gaining an understanding of the process flow

Measure 12/15/2008 – 1/16/2009

• Develop a data collection plan

• Collect data from the necessary sources to determine metrics

Analyze 1/16/2009 – 2/20/2009

• Determine the gaps between the current performance and the goal performance

• Prioritize opportunities for improvement

• Begin to develop plans for implementation

Improve 2/20/2009 – 4/10/2009

• Create plans for the implementation of the developed solutions

• Implement the plan*

Control 4/10/2009 – 5/15/2008

• Prevent reverting back to the “old way”

• Develop and implement an ongoing monitoring plan

• Standardize the improvements

*Implementation of the solutions by the project team is out of scope. However, if Wegmans is able to implement the solutions within the timeframe of the project, the team will oversee this implementation and continue with the control phase. Otherwise, the final product to the customer will include plans for the implementation of the developed solutions and plans for implementing the control phase.
