Ess so let’s keep up the good work.

Dear Community Leader,

We are writing to invite you to participate in the 4th Annual FirstLight Federal Credit Union Sun Bowl Parade Clothing Drive and Business Challenge. The Challenge will begin September 16 and run through November 4, 2013. Goodwill Industries is striving to bring attention to the unemployment that exists in the El Paso/Southern New Mexico community. This Thanksgiving season let us join hands and partner as a community to combat the effects of unemployment with your participation in the Clothing Drive Business Challenge. Last year we collected 37,299 pounds of clothing with a three year total amounting over 158,000 pounds. This has been a huge success so let's keep up the good work.

The Sun Bowl Association, FirstLight Federal Credit Union and the YMCA have joined forces with Goodwill Industries to honor the organization that collects the highest poundage of clothing. With almost 300,000 people attending the parade, this is a great opportunity for any organization to promote itself to the City of El Paso, West Texas, and Southern New Mexico.

The organization/company that collects the highest poundage of clothing will be awarded the use of a pre-built float valued at $10,000 advertising their name, they will have the opportunity to have one company vehicle in the parade and they will be allowed to have participants walk alongside the float in the 2013 FirstLight Federal Credit Union Sun Bowl Parade on Thanksgiving Day! Last year's winner and recipient of the free float was Harvest Christian Center.

Every group entered in the business challenge that collects 2,500 pounds or more will be allowed to have up to 10 individuals march in the parade and carry your company banner.

Attached is additional information on the mission of Goodwill Industries, guidelines to participate in the clothing drive challenge, application and contact information. This Thanksgiving season brings a perfect opportunity to celebrate the great brotherhood found in our beautiful desert area. Together we can work to improve the quality of life and assist those fellow citizens in our communities that need a helping hand. After collecting all the clothing, Goodwill will participate with local deserving organizations to share the benefits from this clothing drive.

Join us in providing employment opportunities and clothing to those families facing challenging economic times. Please contact Ruby Trejo, Executive Assistant at (915) 778-1858 or rtrejo@ with any questions you may have. on the Clothing Drive Contest.

2013 CLOTHING DRIVE CONTEST GUIDELINES

Clothing Drives enable Goodwill Industries to serve the community with jobs, training and services to people with barriers to employment. Goodwill Industries is grateful to FirstLight Federal Credit Union and the Sun Bowl Association for this opportunity. Such initiatives are important as it relies heavily on clothing donations to sustain programs and services to struggling members of our community. The following are guidelines for all Businesses/Organizations participating in the 2013 FirstLight Federal Credit Union Sun Bowl Parade Business Challenge. You must:

1. Establish a contact person to manage the communications, logistics and set goals between your business/organization and the clothing drive coordinator.

2. Have adequate transportation to drop off all clothing donations at the established locations. You must be able to carry and/or dolly the donations to the appropriate drop off location. For larger donations, call Goodwill (see contact information on registration form).

3. Use your collection containers (plastic bins or bags, cardboard boxes) and properly identify each of them by printing your business/organization name on each box with a permanent marker. Goodwill Industries of El Paso, Inc. will provide bins upon request, based on availability. Please make sure clothes is bundled, no loose clothing.

4. Advertise and promote the FirstLight Federal Credit Union Sun Bowl Clothing Drive to encourage people to donate clothing.

5. Drop off all the donations collected no later than the end of the contest which is November 4, 2013. Anything dropped off after that will be appreciated, but not counted towards the contest amount.

6. The Business Challenge winner will be determined by the weight of clothing in good condition donated between September 16 and by no later than November 4, 2013.

7. The Business Challenge winner that collects the highest poundage of clothing/textiles will be awarded the use of a pre-built float advertising their name at the 2013 FirstLight Federal Credit Union Sun Bowl Parade on Thanksgiving Day!
