White Sands FCU employees donate $1,500 to Desert Haven Animal Refuge

Truth or Consequences, NM (November 9, 2011) ? White Sands Federal Credit Union employees have selected the Desert Haven Animal Refuge as the recipient of a $1,500 donation.

Desert Haven Animal Refuge opened its doors in December 2001 to homeless, neglected, handicapped and unwanted domestic animals of Sierra County, New Mexico. All animals at Desert Haven are guaranteed a new home or a good life at the no-kill facility, where they will never again be alone, hungry or afraid.

The credit union staff makes it a habit to give back to their communities. Through payroll deduction, employees contribute to a donation fund, and every quarter, an employee committee selects a non-profit organization as the recipient of the fund. Some of the organizations benefiting from the White Sands FCU employee community fund in the past include: the Truth or Consequences Domestic Abuse Intervention Center, Army Community Services at White Sands Missile Range, CASA of El Paso, Texas and the Child Crisis Center of Southern New Mexico in Las Cruces.
