ISV Royalty Licensing (ISV Royalty) Program offers Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) a convenient way to license Microsoft products and integrate them into a unified software business application. Signing an ISV Royalty License and Distribution Agreement permits ISVs to replicate the unified business solution and to distribute a fully licensed solution to their end users. ISV Royalty offers two different channels, direct and indirect, through which participating ISVs can acquire licenses to Microsoft products. Channel ChoicesTo assist ISVs in making the best business decision in selecting which channel to use, this datasheet provides a comparison between the direct and indirect options. The diagram below explains the flow of information and responsibilities of each party. ISVs who participate in the program through authorized distributors do not have a minimum revenue commitment from Microsoft.StatusThe ISV must be in a direct, managed relationship with Microsoft with an assigned resource such as a Partner Account Manager or Business Development Manager.The ISV does not have a directly managed relationship with Microsoft. Reporting ISVs submit either a monthly royalty report or zero usage report directly to Microsoft using Microsoft Order Entry Tool (MOET).ISVs submit either a monthly royalty report or zero usage report to the distributor, using the distributor’s tools. The distributor uses MOET to report ISV royalties.ContractEach ISV obtains and completes an ISV Royalty License and Distribution Agreement and MBSA directly with Microsoft.A credit application must be submitted to Microsoft.ISVs submit these documents to the appropriate Microsoft Regional Operations Center (ROC). Each ISV obtains and completes the MBSA and ISV Royalty License and Distribution Agreement with their distributor. A credit application is not submitted to Microsoft.
