ASSIGNMENT OF DUTIES

Title: Team Leader – Knowledge Translation

Classification: Executive Level 1

Team: Public Engagement Team

Location: Sydney

Supervisor: Director – Public Engagement

Duties:

1. Manage the Commission’s knowledge translation function, including providing advice and support in the development of resources, training and education activities to the President, Commissioners and policy teams.

2. Manage the Commission’s external fee-for-service training function, including the development of new client relationships, coordinating the delivery of the Commission’s training programs across all training platforms, and overseeing the development of new training programs and content.

3. Supervise staff members in the knowledge translation function including managing workflow, and fulfilling a mentoring, guidance and advisory role in relation to staff.

4. Work collaboratively with other team leaders in the Public Engagement Team to ensure the team’s resources are appropriately managed and to respond to competing demands.

5. Provide advice to the Director, Public Engagement, Deputy Director, Public Engagement and the Commission’s Executive on strategic and innovative development of the Commission’s knowledge translation, education and training resources, including the development of the Commission’s internal training programs.

6. Engage and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver on the digital engagement function’s workplan and to contribute to the delivery of the Commission’s corporate goals and outcomes.

7. Collect, analyse and report on data and outcomes of the Commission’s knowledge translation and training functions for the Commission’s quarterly and annual reporting cycles.

Selection Criteria:

1. Extensive experience in the development of a variety of education and/or knowledge translation resources on current affairs to targeted audiences, and a sound understanding of strategies for effectively communicating policy recommendations and qualitative research results to their target audience and the broader public.

2. Extensive experience in the development and delivery of education or training programs, including an understanding of best practice adult learning principles.

3. Demonstrated capacity for strategic thinking, political awareness, sound judgement and creative problem solving.

4. Experience in managing people and supervising and mentoring staff, including providing guidance on messaging and content development.

5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated experience in the analysis, synthesis and interpretation or research data, and a demonstrated ability to communicate confidently, persuasively, sensitively and articulately, on matters relevant to the delivery of the Commission’s identified strategic priorities.

6. Well-developed relationship management skills, with a capacity to ensure that various stakeholder interests are recognised and managed positively and professionally.

7. Superior time management skills, and an ability to manage competing priorities within a team environment.

8. Demonstrated specialist knowledge and understanding of human rights issues or a related field and capacity to show leadership in responding to these issues.

9. A demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development

10. Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline or equivalent professional experience.
