Family Engagement Coordinator/Liaison

Pathstone Mental Health is currently seeking a 1 Year Contract position as a Family Engagement Coordinator / Liaison for fourteen (14) hours per week. The hourly rate for this position is $23.00 per hour. This is a non-unionized position

The Family Engagement Coordinator/Liaison will support the Niagara Region in implementation of family engagement planning and evaluation. The Family Engagement Coordinator/Liaison will be a community resource to support family engagement activities across the Niagara Region. The Family Engagement Coordinator/Liaison will be actively involved in the planning and sustainability of family engagement efforts across the Niagara Region.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

The major duties and responsibilities of the Family Engagement Coordinator/Liaison include the following:

1. Represent meaningful family voice within the Niagara region;

2. Develop and maintain a contact database for families who have indicated willingness to be engaged;

3. Recruit and/or represent family voice at targeted community tables/committees;

4. Ensure that families have full access to accurate, understandable and complete information necessary to be engaged;

5. Meet with individuals and groups to learn about people and organizations supporting families and providing resources to families and those with mental health needs regionally;

6. Provide opportunities for community partners and individuals to learn about engaging families;

7. Work with key individuals, community partners, and/or groups collaboratively in the engagement of families in Niagara;

8. Identify champions of Family Engagement in Niagara;

9. Educate formally and informally about the principles of family engagement, advisory councils, and other collaborative endeavours;

10. Assist staff and community partner organizations to understand the role families can play in planning, implementation and evaluation;

11. Work collaboratively to establish clear guidelines for the engagement of families;

12. Identify opportunities for family engagement;

13. Develop recruitment mechanisms to enhance family network;

14. Help to organize and facilitate meetings with families;

15. Assist in promotion of events, family engagement opportunities.

Other Responsibilities

1. Contribute to the successful implementation of family engagement strategies and plans;

2. Enhance professional knowledge through professional development opportunities;

3. Promote effective teamwork and communication through day to day interactions;

4. Other duties as assigned.

Working with the Family Advisory Committee Executive

1. Provide administrative support to the FACE;

2. Maintain records of the FACE including agendas, minutes, reports etc.;

3. Assist in developing recruitment strategies;

4. Assist and support the orientation of new council members;

5. Act as a staff liaison between the FACE and organization(s);

6. Support the evaluation of family engagement of committees;

7. Provide guidance and council to the support where required and appropriate.

Health and Safety Responsibilities

Assume responsibility for a safe work environment and safe working practices by:

i) Working in a safe manner and maintaining a safe and orderly work environment;

ii) Reporting unsafe situations and conditions to the Manager in accordance with Health and Safety Policies and Procedures;

Accountability

The Family Engagement Coordinator/Liaison reports to the Director of Strategic Initiatives, Standards and Practices and is responsible to work collaboratively with the Family Advisory Committee Executive.

The Family Engagement Coordinator/Liaison will take direction from the coaching provided by the Family Engagement Specialist.

➢ Lived experience as the primary caregiver of a child/youth who has accessed community-based or other child and youth mental health services;

➢ Excellent verbal and written communication skills;

➢ Ability to maintain the highest professional and confidentiality standards;

➢ Ability to work independently and with a team;

➢ Knowledge of community resources;

➢ Proficient in MS office applications;

➢ Bilingual in English and French is an asset;

➢ Valid driver’s license, insurable in Ontario and access to a reliable vehicle for use on company business;

➢ Flexible to meet the demands of the position and agency
