POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Financial Aid Director
Full-Time Exempt
The Kansas City Art Institute (KCAI), a national leader in visual arts and design education, is seeking applications for the full-time position of Financial Aid Director. This Financial Aid Director position is responsible for all aspects of the financial aid program.
This position reports to the Vice President for Enrollment & Marketing (VP).
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND QUALIFICATIONS:
• Extensive knowledge of Student Financial Aid and professional practices within the field.
• Maintain confidentiality of all information in the Financial Aid Office.
• Ability to maintain professional expertise current in the area of responsibility.
• Extensive knowledge of PowerFAIDS
• Must be detail oriented and have the ability to maintain accurate and complete records.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate well, both written and orally, with individuals from various backgrounds, especially students and their families.
• Ability to always present a pleasant, courteous, and service oriented attitude.
• Strong computer skills including experience with financial aid software.
• Ability to work effectively with personnel from federal, state and local agencies and lending institutions.
• Ability to read and interpret complex federal regulations and transmit their implementation into institutional policy.
• Knowledge of methods of federal budgeting of student financial aid.
• Knowledge of development of student financial aid grant proposals.
• Knowledge of enrollment management as related to student financial aid.
• Ability to keep professional expertise current.
• Possess a pleasant telephone voice and manner.
• Ability to maintain appropriate confidentialities.
• Ability to resolve conflicts in a constructive manner.
• Ability to work under the pressure of deadlines.
• Ability to work with minimum supervision, to begin projects independently, and to bring projects to conclusion on a timely basis
REQUIRED/PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
• Three years working in a financial aid office including two years in a supervisory capacity required.
• Experience with financial aid software in addition to routine computer/technology skills required.
REQUIRED/PREFERRED EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
• Bachelor’s degree in related field required with specific course work/seminars on Student Financial Aid.
• Master’s degree in related field preferred.
