Position DescriptionPosition title: Principal Marketing and Communications OfficerPosition number: TBAClassification: AO8Course: Directorate: Innovation and Business Development Location: Batchelor Tenure: 3 years fixed termSupervisor: Executive Director, Innovation and Business DevelopmentPositions Supervised: Marketing and Communications Team Special Features of Position:Position OverviewReporting to the Executive Director, Innovation and Business Development, the Principal Marketing and Communications Officer is responsible for establishing, managing and advising on internal and external marketing and communications plans, channels and activities for Batchelor Institute and its programs.The Principal Marketing and Communications Officer has oversight of Batchelor Institute's marketing and communications strategy ensuring that it is flexible and responsive to the organisation's business needs and environment. The Principal Marketing and Communications Officer provides strategic and tactical marketing and communications advice to the Executive Director, Innovation and Business Development and Batchelor Institute.Detailed Statement of Duties1. Develop and implement a responsive and flexible marketing and communications strategy for Batchelor Institute that takes into account the organisation's mission, business needs, stakeholders and political environment.2. Oversee all marketing and communications activities, events and materials, ensuring quality and timeliness of production and dissemination in accordance with protocols, schedules and budgets.3. Develop and maintain the Batchelor Institute brand in the Northern Territory, nationally and wider, community and political environment.4. Provide timely public relations advice and information to the Executive Director, Innovation and Business Development, CEO and Batchelor Institute Corporate Executive Leadership Team, though the Executive Director, Innovation and Business Development, and directly as required including briefing/preparation for media statements, speeches and public addresses. Act as the initial point of contact for all media enquiries regarding Batchelor Institute's programs and activities.5. Manage the marketing and communications budget and ensure maximum leverage for funds invested in promotion and marketing of Batchelor Institute's programs.6. Establish internal marketing and communications protocols including developing and maintaining key corporate messages. Contribute to capacity building and learning within Batchelor Institute, ensuring all teams promote the Batchelor Institute brand's value.7. Manage a small team or work unit as required, ensuring the delivery of exceptional, client-focused results.8. Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with stakeholders including internal and external clients, partners, funding providers and other stakeholders.9. Work collaboratively and effectively as a member of a high-performing team, engage positively with senior management and all internal staff and contribute to Batchelor Institute's continued development and continuous improvement.10. Undertake any other duties necessary to this position as delegated by your line manger.Essential selection criteria1. High level experience in leading, planning and managing marketing and communications strategies to ensure strong brand awareness and the achievement of business goals.2. Proven ability to provide public relations advice to senior management and effectively liaise with media bodies and representatives.3. Well developed skills in project, budget and team leadership and management.4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a track-record in building and maintaining collaborative relationships with a wide range of internal and external clients and stakeholders in an environment requiring cultural sensitivity.5. Excellent working knowledge of Social and online media particularly disruptive marketing.6. Personal qualities such as energy, initiative, commitment to teamwork and collaboration, focus on outcomes and respect for others.Desirable selection competencies: 1. Tertiary qualifications in marketing and/or communications.2. Knowledge of contemporary communication channels, design principles and design software.3.
