|JOB SUMMARY |

|Under general direction of the Director, Marketing Communications, the Marketing Communications Specialist is responsible for providing support to the marketing, |

|advertising and public relations efforts for UW Health Marketing and Communications. Primary responsibilities include revising and updating marketing materials for all |

|UW Health, the UW School of Medicine and Public Health, the UW Foundation. This will include placing advertisements, revising and updating printed materials as needed, |

|helping to obtain products from outside vendors, process and prepare special event materials. This will also include assisting departments and clinics with marketing |

|materials that do not have a budget or an assigned Marketing Communications Strategist. |

|The incumbent works closely with all Marketing Communications Strategists to assist with the project work of various tactics assigned to the strategic communications |

|plans for customer specific and institution–wide communications strategies. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring all products/materials produced under his/her |

|guidance are of the highest quality and clearly support the strategies and goals of the institution. |

|The Marketing Communications Specialist works independently and with a team so must be self-motivated and able to manage time wisely. The Marketing Communications |

|Specialist will be expected to understand and use quality principles and tools in managing his/her own work systems and processes. |

|MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES |

|Possesses finely tuned organizational skills. |

|Ability to work under tight deadlines while managing multiple priorities. |

|Possesses understanding of the strategic objectives of UW Health, including the University Hospital, the UW School of Medicine and Public Health, and the UW Foundation.|

|Demonstrates a self-motivated approach in assisting with appropriate strategies and programs to achieve the four-fold missions of patient care, research, outreach and |

|education as expressed in the overall institutional strategic plan. |

|Collaborates with internal teams (i.e. advertising, media relations, web, publications, decision support, development, community relations, legislative relations) to |

|achieve assigned tasks. |

|Assists with activities to include, but not limited to, writing, editing, obtaining approvals, managing photo sessions. |

|Ensures all products produced are of the highest technical standards in the areas of writing, design and impact. |

|Demonstrates ability to present material in writing, through graphic presentations and other communications media. |

|Participates effectively in management and implementation teams when requested. |

|Demonstrates articulate, professional and courteous use of communication strategies with others in all circumstances. |

|Ensures that projects meet or exceed customer satisfaction. |

|Exemplifies “customer first” principles when dealing with patients and others from outside the institution. |

|Independently obtains necessary knowledge and skills needed to keep up with technology and changing roles. |
