Calling all Titans

Summer vacation is almost over and we are excited to be starting another school year at Bettye Myers Middle School! We hope that you have enjoyed your summer break with friends and family. Although there still are a few more weeks of summer left, we have planned several events to help you prepare for the upcoming year.

Online Registration: Online registration for the 2014 - 2015 school year will begin on July 24, 2014. Parents and legal guardians of new and returning students must “electronically enroll” their children through the Denton ISD Online Registration Process called InfoSnap. Please visit the DISD website and find the online registration information under the “Parent Information” tab.

New & Returning Student Proof of Residency: Parents and guardians of students new to Denton ISD, and returning to Denton ISD, must come to Bettye Myers to bring proof of residency documents and your InfoSnap Verification Forms. Proof of residency will be determined with a current utility bill dated after July 1st, 2014. Bills that indicate a cancellation of service will not be accepted. No other forms of residential information will be permitted. Cell phone, internet, cable, and insurance statements and/or bills sent to P.O. boxes will not be accepted. To advance through registration quickly, bring the original copy of your proof of residency. (For questions regarding Proof of Residency, go to , click on the “For Parents” tab, go to “Registration Information”, and “Proof of Residency”.

NOTE: Students living in another person’s residence must complete a notarized residency affidavit. All residency affidavits are subject to verification by campus administration and the School Resource Officer to eliminate errors and/or falsification of information. To keep campus numbers balanced, students are required to attend the school in the attendance zone in which their parents reside.

Computers will be available at Bettye Myers MS, during the Registration and Schedule Pick-Up times, for parents and guardians to complete the online registration process if not previously done. Parents and guardians of students may also complete the online Free/Reduced Lunch enrollment and Bus/Transportation enrollment during this time.

New and Returning Student Schedule Pick Up: Schedule pick up times are listed below. Please arrive during the student’s assigned time. Please note the order of events listed below. Parents must provide all required documents in each step in order to move on to the next step.

1. You will verify your proof of residency, as it is required in order to complete the registration and schedule pick up process.

a. As previously stated, a current utility bill, after July 1st, 2014, is sufficient evidence of residency. (New students who brought proof of residency the week prior will receive a “Titan Ticket” that will allow them to skip this step.)

b. You will also need to bring your Infosnap online registration verification form. This is the form you received and were asked to print after you completed the Denton ISD online registration process.

2. You will meet with the nurse to verify that your student’s immunization records are up to date. Please bring a current immunization record if your student has received shots since the end of the last school year.

3. Agendas, ID’s, and Lanyards will be sold for $10. Please bring cash. You will receive your agenda immediately and your ID and lanyard on the first day of classes.

4. BMMS Fall Picture Date is October 9. Each student will receive a new ID card after this date.

5. Counselors will hand out schedules. Note: Due to the high number of students we will be serving, schedule changes cannot be made during this time.

6. There will be an Athletics/P.E. table for ordering and paying for P.E. attire and athletic apparel.

Online ordering forms can be found on the BMMS P.E. and athletic webpages. Online ordering is available July 21st – August 1st.

Prices for P.E. attire are as follows:

o Gray shirt - $10, Navy shirt - $10, Red shirt - $10.

o Red, Silver, or Navy shorts - $10 each.

Prices for athletic apparel are as follows:

o Navy shirt - $10, Navy shorts - $10

o Navy hoodie - $24, Navy sweatpants - $20.

7. PTA: The PTA will have a table set up to sell spirit wear and PTA memberships.

The Registration / Schedule Pick-Up Dates are as Follows:

August 11, 2014 8th Grade A-L 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

M-Z 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

August 12, 2014 7th Grade A-L 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

M-Z 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

August 13, 2014 6th Grade A-L 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

M-Z 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

MAKE-UP DAY ~ August 14, 2014 ~ All Grades ~ 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

To receive your child’s schedule, all required documents must be turned in, and all fines

from the previous school years must be paid in full.

6th Grade Titan Camp and Stock Your Locker: Hey 6th Grade Titans! You are invited to come to Bettye Myers on Friday, August 22rd from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for a sneak preview of your new school! Not only will you meet your teachers, but you will also tour the school, walk through your schedule, practice opening your lockers, enjoy a hotdog/hamburger cook-out with music, and have some fun activities designed to help you get to know your fellow Titans.

Parents: For our 6th Grade Titan Camp, please drop off your students on the north side of the school (the side that faces Stevens Elementary) beginning at 8:00 a.m. You may pick up your student in the Cafeteria at 12:00 p.m. Parents, this is a student only event. However, at the conclusion of the 6th Grade Titan Camp feel free to meet your student in the cafeteria at 12:00 p.m. and bring their supplies so they may stock their locker.

7th and 8th Grade Stock Your Locker Date and Times:

August 22th 7th Grade and 8th Grade – 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.

First Day of School: August 25, 2014 ~ School Hours: 8:20 am – 3:20 pm

Open House: Tuesday, September, 2nd, 2014, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
