About Your Advisor
Kevin S Agnew is an Assistant Professor of accounting at Elon University. His research focuses on accounting information systems and auditing. He has a PhD in Business from the University of South Florida and a BS in Business Administration from Appalachian State University where he double majored in accounting and information systems and minored in music.
Description
Are you interested in art, writing, music, or filmmaking? Been involved in theatre as an actor, scenic designer, costumer, or director? Have you written screenplays, or simply love going to the movie theater? Would you identify as an “orch dork”, a “gleek”, or a band kid? Or do you just love listening to music, creating playlists, or sound engineering? The Creative Arts living-learning community is designed to generate an atmosphere for students to express and explore the liberal arts, creativity, and artistic interests or skills.
Overall Living Learning Community Goals
• Living Learning Communities provide students with a sense of belonging in a community of their peers united by a common interest.
• LLCs support students’ intellectual, personal, and social growth by providing them with opportunities to learn in a collaborative, engaging environment.
• Living Learning Communities work to integrate students’ academic, social, and residential experiences, providing a seamless learning environment in which students develop “connected knowing” outside of the classroom on disciplinary and interdisciplinary projects.
• Living Learning Communities challenge students to test their skills/knowledge through applications, experiences, reflection and synthesis outside the classroom. Examples of this include intellectual discussions, trips, projects, speakers and events.
• Living Learning Communities provide opportunity for faculty and staff to engage in university service and student mentoring in intentional mentorship with students outside of the classroom in their field of interest or discipline.
Creative Arts LLC Goals
This community will:
• Foster a respect and appreciation for art as a mutual space for communication
• Connect through art on a intellectual and emotional level
• See the world through different perspectives and mediums advancing appreciation for diversity
• Support one another’s artistic and creative endeavors
• Connect to the larger Elon campus community through advocacy of the arts
• Use the arts as a means of serving others

As a member of the Creative Arts LLC I agree to the best of my ability attend LLC functions and actively participate in LLC events. Also, as a member of this community I will strive to:

• “Dinner and a show!” Nights, where we attend a performance within the Center for
Fine Arts after getting a meal together
• Game Nights
• Advisor lunch/coffee with Dr. Agnew
