-289821-733647001216394-807705VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENTVACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT2280507-350520EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYEREMPLOYER DOES NOT DISCRIMINATE ON BASIS OF AGE, HANDICAP, NATIONAL ORIGIN, RACE, RELIGION, OR SEX0EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYEREMPLOYER DOES NOT DISCRIMINATE ON BASIS OF AGE, HANDICAP, NATIONAL ORIGIN, RACE, RELIGION, OR SEX____________________________________________________________________________________ Date Posted:April 29, 2019 Position: Pre-Kindergarten Exceptional Children’s Lead Teacher Full-time/Permanent / 8.0 hours per day / 11 months / FLSA ExemptPosition Available: July 1, 2019 Reports To: Executive Director of Federal ProgramsJob Goal:To assist with addressing federal and state requirements regarding procedural and instructional accountability; work as a liaison with school personnel to ensure implementation of required policies and procedures affecting students with disabilities in Hertford County Public Schools.Essential Functions and Responsibilities:Follow all rules, policies and procedures of Hertford County Public Schools, along with state and federal regulations, including IDEA.Attend building level IEP meetings to assist building level administrators in resolving issues relating to the delivery of special education services for Pre-Kindergarten students.Provide technical assistance to Pre-Kindergarten special education classroom teachers in developing appropriate IEP’s, structuring classrooms and developing behavior management plans.Observe special education teachers and students to provide feedback to teamsand leadership.Team with support specialists, teachers, and other school personnel in thedelivery of services; plan, conduct, and assist in staff development activities.Serve as a special education liaison for schools with Pre-Kindergarten programsSupport the school program, cooperate with others to accomplish its goals, coordinate program services with other student services and maintain records in accordance with established rules, regulations and ethical standards.Facilitate communication among school staff, families and agencies.Collaborate with various agencies supporting children (Department of SocialServices, Mental Health, Office of Juvenile Justice, courts).Assist with identification and implementation of best teaching practices.Participate in continuing education and professional growth activities related to special education.Perform related duties and responsibilities as requested by the Director and/or principal.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Considerable knowledge of federal and state statutes and regulations regarding provision of services to students with disabilities.Ability to exercise independent judgement in determining eligibility, type of services to be provided, and placement of students with disabilities in the least restrictive environment. Knowledge of the principles and practices of testing and interpretation of test data.Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and inn writing; ability to communicate well with school personnel, employees, and central office staff.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work.Physical ability (able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally) and dexterity to perform the duties and responsibilities of the job.Application Deadline: Open Until Filled Application Process: All candidates are required to complete an on-line application via TeacherMatch.
