This role will be focused on growing, engaging and mobilising our members and supporters to deliver on our campaign objectives and priorities.The Campaign Manager will report to the Tasmanian Greens Election Coordinator and will liaise with the Treasurer, Election Committee, Offices of Senators Nick McKim and Peter Whish-Wilson (in the event of a double dissolution election). The Campaign Manager will be based in Hobart and/or Launceston, and will be required to visit staff and volunteers in each of the five Tasmanian electorates.We require a highly competent person who is committed to the Greens principles, processes and policies, high level communication skills, excellent organisational skills and who can work collaboratively with staff and volunteers to help achieve outstanding electoral success.The position will commence as soon as possible and end two weeks after the federal election. Position SummaryThe role of the Campaign Manager (CM) is to prepare for the forthcoming Federal election with a view to ensuring the TG membership is actively engaged in the election campaign. The position will work closely with party members, Senate offices and the Electorate Branches. The position works under the general direction of the Election Campaign Committee through the Election Coordinator. A vital aspect of the role will be efficient and effective liaison with other paid employees and volunteers. The role of the 2016 Federal Campaign Manager is to undertake the key tasks required for the lead-up to the Federal election. Key tasks include:Developing, refining and implementing an organising strategy to mobilise community support for The Tasmanian Greens to maximise campaigning capacity for a range of agreed election tactics. Coordination and implementation of strategic and high-visibility campaigning and outreach with key constituencies and in demographically favourable areas to maximise the Green vote in the Senate and House of Representatives seats.With staff from the Party office, ensure that all campaign communications are in-line with the national strategy and ensure candidates and volunteers have access to communication materials.Oversee the creation and execution of a State-wide digital communications strategy that complements the National communications strategy.Ensure that the Tasmanian Greens web-presence is up-to-date and relevant.Increasing the involvement and engagement of volunteers and supporters to maximise the effectiveness of the election campaign by integrating collective community power with effective tools and tactics.Post-election, developing (with other staff) an election report with recommendations for future campaigns.Essential Selection criteria Exceptional skills and experience in campaign management and/or project management including the ability to strategically plan and execute an election campaign within budgetary and financial expectations. A detailed knowledge, understanding, and support for the principles, policies and decision making processes of the Tasmanian Greens.Demonstrated experience in political or community organising including volunteer engagement and management. Prior experience working for a Greens (or similar progressive party) election campaign either as Campaign Manager or in the core staff team will be an advantage.Demonstrated skill in exercising sound political judgment and responsiveness in effectively re-prioritising work due to unplanned developments.Demonstrated and highly developed organisational skills, including time management, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a potentially stressful, time-critical context.A detailed knowledge of Federal election issues and understanding of the Australian political and electoral system.Strong skills in the use of databases, office productivity software and digital communication platforms including knowledge and experience using contact databases to maximise campaign communication, (e.g. CiviCRM,) Advanced written and spoken communication skills and highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively develop and deliver training to campaign volunteers and staff as required.Current drivers licence.Relationship to othersThe position works closely with the Tasmanian Greens Election Campaign Coordinator and will work closely with existing Tasmanian Greens Senators and office staff, Australian Greens campaign staff, and local candidates. The position formally reports to the Tasmanian Greens Executive through the Election Coordinator.The Campaign Manager will work with the Party Treasurer and Election Coordinator to manage the campaign within the election budget. The Campaign Manager will be responsible for the work output of any other paid campaign staff, e.g. the Materials Coordinator.LocationThe position is to be based in the Tasmanian Greens office in Hobart, Tasmania but location is open to negotiation and able to be based in other parts of the State. ConditionsThis is a full-time position. Hours worked will vary with the expectation of increasing hours worked as the Election date draws closer. Regular travel across Tasmania will be required. The position will commence as soon as possible, with one contract ending 1?April?2016, and a second contract beginning immediately after until three weeks after the federal election. (This is to allow for a possible July double dissolution election and an August-October regular election). The position is subject to an initial 3 month probationary period.
