Albemarle Senior Games

Senior games, so many of you have heard of it, many participate each year...but what is it??

Senior Games is a wellness and pervention program to keep the body, mind and spirit fit while enjoying the company of friends, family, spectators and volunteers. The Albemarle Senior Games is sanctioned by the North Carolina Senior Games,

which began in 1983 with a vision to create a year round health promotion and education program for adults 50 years of age and better.

Each Spring, participants can enjoy friendly competition with others in their own sex and age category within five year increments

You can choose from over 40 athletic events! Including Bocce', Bowling, Horseshoes, Shuffleboard, Tennis, Croquet, Golf, and much more! You don't need to be

an athlete, because their goal is simple "Fun, Fitness, and Fellowship". In addition to athletic events we offer SilverArts. This is a "Celebration of the Creative Expression of Seniors". You can choose from over 35 artistic categories, including Photography, Painting, Dancing, Singing, Writing, Woodworking, Nee-

dlework, and even Cheerleading, just to name a few! The senior games are made possible every year by the Albemarle Commission and

all of its great team members and volunteers every year. It's simply a wonderful opportunity to enjoy athletics & creative arts no matter

what age!! Those who qualify may also make it to State Finals in Raleigh NC in the fall. For more information you make pick up a registration/brochure packet in the office or

New PML Trips for 2018 ? Ireland Oct 20th-27th , 2018 *250.00 Deposit Fee*

Ms. Evelyn Mae Brickhouse Anderson went home to rest with the Lord at the age of 94 on Dec. 8th, 2017. Evelyn was the very first graduate of the nursing program at College of the Albemarle. She worked as a nurse in Elizabeth City and Virginia for more than 40 years. She also worked with the Red Cross as a volunteer during blood drives. Evelyn was a friend of the senior center for many years since it's opening. She was known for her love of all sports and participation in the senior games even into her 90's. Many loved to talk about her many medals and trophies said to be on display at her house that showed her love of sports. Ms. Evelyn loved to play up-words with her friends on Tuesday's and Thursdays and rarely missed. Ms. Evelyn's love and smile to everyone is already missed at the Senior Center.
