School Counseling News

Seniors: Counselors did Naviance/College Application lessons in all

12th grade English classrooms in September. Seniors are prepared to use Naviance to manage their applications and deadlines. On their home page is a step by step guide of the application process. We are still meeting individually with our seniors to assist with the college application process.

REMINDER: Students must send their own SAT and ACT scores to colleges through the testing web sites.

To apply for federal student aid, such as federal grants, workstudy, and loans, you need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA?) form on or before March 1, 2020. Completing and submitting the FAFSA form is free and easier than ever. Many states and colleges use your FAFSA information to determine your eligibility for state and school aid, and some private financial aid providers may use your FAFSA information to determine whether you qualify for their aid. Counselors visited 9th grade classes to introduce ourselves, and to get them thinking about careers and colleges via the 6 year planning process.

Up Next: CCBC will be visiting Dulaney on November 26th to give an information session on their programs and enrollment process.

CLASS OF 2020 DULANEY HIGH SCHOOL

GRAD GALA

Dear Dulaney Parents, Guardians & Friends of Dulaney, On Saturday, May 16, 2020 the class of 2020 will hold its senior prom, to be followed by the after prom event, known as the Grad Gala. The Grad Gala is an off-campus, alcohol & drug free event. It is FREE to all seniors and guests, even if they do not attend the senior prom. It draws more than 500 attendees each year and is a fun and safe event for after prom. In order to make Grad Gala 2020 an unforgettable experience, we need your help! The cost of the event is usually over $25,000. The funds for this event are raised through donations from our business community. The largest portion of the money, however, comes from donations made by families and friends of Dulaney. This includes families of all grades. Please consider making a $50 donation or any amount you feel comfortable with, to support this event. Your generosity is greatly appreciated and the key to making our 2020 Grad Gala a fun and safe alternative for our seniors. Sincerely, Sherrie Shaffer and Ann Bogdanowicz Volunteer Coordinators, Grad Gala 2020 Planning Committee; GradGala2020@
