Gather the children to sit in a circle, show them a feely bag and explain that it is called a ‘describing bag’. That is because we must describe what is inside. To describe we need to use our words. Show them an object and describe it together, refer to texture, material, shape and size and model sentence structure. Now take turns for the children to describe the object inside the bag. Do not let them see what is in the bag. The only clue they have is that it is from the classroom. Can they guess what it is? Repeat the activity until everybody has had a go at describing what is in the bag.
