September 9, 2020Exodus 33:11 (NIV)The Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as a man speaks with his friend. Then Moses would return to the camp, but his young aide Joshua son of Nun did not leave the tent. God’s love tells us He is friendly and His Word assures us that He is our friend and wants us to be His friend. No one with a trace of humility would think that he is a friend of God; but the idea did not originate with men. God Himself said that Abraham was his friend. The disciples might well have hesitated to claim friendship with Jesus, but Jesus said to them, “You are my friends.” We do God more honor by believing what he said about Himself and having the courage to come boldly to the throne of grace than by hiding in self-conscious humility among the trees of the garden. Are you living so that God would say, “You are my friend?”Did You Know?We have received two thank you notes this week for our expressions of sympathy. The first note came from Brother Aaron Tillman: We sincerely appreciate and gratefully acknowledge those who sent a kind expression of sympathy. Our family will always remember it. We are finding our way back from the celebration of the life of our beloved family member. We thank God for the support we received from our Mt. Zion family. Thank you for your love. The second note is from Deacon Haygood and his family: Thank you Mt. Zion family for all the cards during this tough time of bereavement. We must say that our Mt. Zion family is always there during tough times to show sympathy and empathy. On behalf of the Haygood Family, we appreciate all the “LOVE” and “KIND” words of condolences and encouragement.
