FY 2011 CDBG/HOME Activity Descriptions

CDBG ACTIVITIES:

• Southside Recreation Coordinator – Partial salary of Recreation Coordinator for South Bethlehem and program costs.

• Southside Parks and Playgrounds – Improvements to Madison, McNamara, Yosko and Saucon Parks. Improvements to Skate Plaza.

• Schweder Fire Station – Energy efficient improvements to the interior and exterior of the fire station based on the recommendations of an energy audit.

• Ambulance – remounting of ambulance on new chassis

• Public Works

o Street Overlays – Various street overlays in low/mod income areas

o Public Works Engineering – costs associated with the design of Public Works projects

o Street Reconstruction – Reconstruction of Martel Street from Morton to 4th Street

o Street Trees

• Lehigh Valley Center for Independent Living – Funds to LVCIL for homeownership counseling for disabled Bethlehem residents

• Community Action Development Corporation of Bethlehem – Funds to CADCB for micro-enterprise development

• Community Action Committee of the Lehigh Valley – Funds to CACLV for financial counseling and homeownership counseling to City residents

• Rising Tide – funding for a microenterprise loan fund

• Embrace Your Dreams – Youth Program that teaches life skills through tennis and golf

• Bethlehem Redevelopment Authority – Administrative costs for Redevelopment Authority

• Police Drug Surveillance Overtime – Payment of overtime for Police Officers for Drug Surveillance in South Bethlehem

• Community Police Officers – Partial payment of 3 Community Police Officers serving South Bethlehem

• Elm Street – administrative costs for the program

• Planning – Funding to match a HUD Planning Challenge Grant

• Housing Rehabilitation

o Staff/Delivery Costs – Staff costs for the Housing Rehabilitation Program

o Grants/Loans

• Economic Development – Staff/Delivery costs

• Program Administration – Costs to administer the CDBG and HOME Programs

HOME Activities:

• Habitat for Humanity – Acquisition and/or infrastructure improvements for up to 5 homes

• Housing Rehabilitation – grants and/or loans for the rehabilitation of owner-occupied units

• Housing Development Corporation – development of 50 affordable rental units
