 Title:English as a Second Language (ESL) TeacherQualifications:Bachelor's degree, valid teacher’s license, and ESL endorsement; Communicates effectively, strong written and verbal communication skills;Fluent and competent in the four domains of English language development, (reading, writing, listening, and speaking), as assessed by WIDA English Language Proficiency Assessments;Proficient in use of Google Workspace, Google Classroom, Word, Excel, and other job-related software applications.Job Goals: Plan and implement daily ESL lessons and an appropriate program of study for assigned students. Instruction will be based on formal and informal assessments, collaboration with classroom teachers, student progress monitoring, and alignment with WIDA standards and state curriculum objectives. Supervision:This position will report to the Federal Programs Supervisor.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSPlan, prepare, and facilitate daily lessons and instructional activities in English in a safe and positive learning environment Effectively and appropriately differentiate instruction, materials, and resources to meet all students’ language development proficiency levels,make academic content accessible, and support curriculum expectations. Communicate with teachers, staff, and other district personnel to evaluate student academic progress, determine student language acquisition progress, and collaboratively develop, maintain, and implement student ILP objectives. Participate in school data team meetings and IEP meetings impacting ELs. Continually monitor and record evidence of student growth and progress. Support classroom teachers to model differentiated instruction, best practice ESL strategies, and modifications to improve student achievement and academic success.Attend meetings and professional development opportunities for professional growth and acquisition of job related information. Travel to different schools to teach ESL students, support ESL students and school personnel, and implement an effective ESL program.Perform other duties as assigned.
