PATHWAY TO WELLNESS WELCOMES

Dr. Bruce Simmons, who had the vision for the Pathway to Wellness Program and designed

the Pathway to Wellness logo retired in December 2016. Dr. Jarrod Bagatell will be the PTW

Chairman and Director of Employee Student Health. Welcome Dr. Bagatell.

Emily Cotey, DPT student has been an important part of Pathway to Wellness. As Emily has

moved to her new clinical site we welcome Alyssa Tamburrino, DPT student, who is ready to

take on the Assistant position for 2017.

MONTHLY CHALLENGES

The WellNYSEveryDay challenge for January is: Start each day in 2017 with 7 healthy habits: ? Plan your day the night before ? Drink water ? Choose a healthy breakfast ? Say a positive affirmation ? Exercise or stretch your body ? Meditate your mind ? Visualize your day

SOUPER MONDAY MILE WALKS

Souper Monday Mile walks in 2017 are: Monday, Jan 23, Feb 6 and March 13. The walks are to encourage activity during the winter and when you walk, you get a coupon for a $.25 discount off a cup or bowl of soup at one of 4 Morrison locations on that same day. Downtown: For walking inside, please meet Suzanne at 12 noon on the second floor main elevator lobby outside the caf?. For walking outside please meet Joanne at the lobby of the circle driveway. Community Campus: Beth Sellers will meet those who want to walk outside at 12 noon at the

gift shop and Pamella George will meet inside walkers at the Employee Health Office. WKH? If there is a student who wants to lead a walk from Weiskotten Hall please let me know.

WELLNYSEVERYDAY WINTER WEEKEND WARRIOR

NEW - Starting the weekend after January 21. When you get out for an outdoor winter weekend activity ? you are eligible for the Winter, Weekend, Wellness Warrior Award.

(For those of you who completed

the First or Next 5K ? you will know that you go online and enter your activity and date. Family members can participate too)

PATHWAY TO WELLNESS AMBASSADORS

Pathway to Wellness is looking for a person from each department who would be willing to receive information from PTW each month and share the information with the rest of your department. Please email: tamburra@upstate.edu if you are interested in being an ambassador. Thank you for helping others!

QUIT SMOKING CAFE

The Quit Smoking Caf? -first Thursday of every month. Feb 2nd, from 1-3 pm in the Atrium of

the Cancer Center. Employees, students, volunteers, cancer patients and their families are

all invited to stop over. Enjoy some light refreshments and meet Thresea Hankin. Ask

questions and find out how to quit.

TRANQUILITY TUESDAYS

Dr. Kaushal Nanavati and the COM Skaneateles Learning community are offering a 30 minute meditation every first Tuesday of the month. Feb 7th is the next offering at 12 noon in

3507 Setnor.

NEW YEAR, NEW YOU.

The Office of Campus Activities will be sponsoring the annual NEW YEAR NEW YOU

from Monday, January 9 - Wednesday, January 18. During this no cost-no obligation trial

period, all members of the Upstate Community are welcome to workout at the CAB Recreation

Center.

As a special incentive, Faculty or Staff Members who become NEW CAB Members during the promotional period will receive a 13 month membership for the cost of an annual membership. Annual Individual Memberships are $130 and Annual Family Memberships are $165. A family

membership would include a spouse or a domestic partner (must meet NY State guidelines for domestic partner benefits) and any dependent children 19 years of age or younger.

The CAB Recreation Center Hours: Monday through Friday from 6:30am - 10pm, Saturday from 9am to 6pm and Sunday from Noon to 9pm. Group Fitness Class Schedule: Bootcamp on Tuesday and Thursday at 5:30pm; Bootcamp Express on Wednesday at 6:45am; HIIT on Wednesday at 5:30pm; and Yoga on Monday at 5:30pm. Call the CAB Information Center at 315.464.8860 for more information regarding membership at the CAB.

TIME FOR A TIP ONLY?

You can get a tip of the day sent to your email box by registering at or you can go to upstate.edu/wellness and there is a new tip everyday on the webpage in a green banner. Lastly, you can "like" UpstatePTW for tips, recipes and articles on wellness.

WELLNESS IS FOR ALL LOCATIONS, ALL SHIFTS

If you work in Oswego, Binghamton, UHCC or over at Joslin you can still participate in Wellness programs online or on Facebook; UpstatePTW or go to the website: Upstate.edu/wellness The NYS Well Everyday Monthly Challenges are online and family members can participate in the NYS Well Everyday programs.
