Topic: how to shoot a bow

Limited Topic: how to shoot a compound bow, broad head arrow tips, graphite arrow shafts; covering stance, aiming, proper form and release in order to hit a target

Specific Purpose: to demonstrate how to shoot a compound bow, while explaining the equipment, its functions, and good practices in shooting form and safety

Thesis Statement (a complete sentence): Knowing the bow and arrow equipment, their functions, and various practices of caution for safety are necessary in learning to shoot an arrow from a bow with accuracy.

Prior knowledge, interview with my Dad or uncles, bow hunting magazines, and maybe DNR or safety hunting websites.

Visual Aid Ideas: bow, arrows (maybe a couple different types of points), target, quiver, arm safety guard. Chart or diagram of equipment, practice targets, or practice range. Video of safe handling of equipment.

Audience Participation (what I will want my audience to do): One volunteer to attempt to shoot an arrow at the target at the end of the demonstration.

Special Considerations (things I should consider or things I’m concerned about):

Outdoor speaking area, weather conditions on the day I present, approve bringing and storing a weapon on school grounds. How I’ll transport weapon to/from school.
