Format of AMR Case Study

Students will be given a case study and will be asked to write the Research Design and the Sampling Methodology. The research process will not be asked as that is already in the research design.

The Research Design is the plan or blue print of how the research is to be carried out. Hence all the specifics have to be included in the research design

The Problem. This will be in the question itself

The Objective The objective is in the case study

Type of Research a) Descriptive or Causal (as per the case study)

Exploratary research will be done first by the

Researcher as it helps him/her to develop a good

research design

This exploratory research is not done according to

any sampling plan but is done on an ad-hoc basis

b) It will be primary research

Where conducted Depending of the case study urban, semi-urban or

rural

Mention the names of the places where it is to be

done

Hypotthesis Not necessary

Sampling Methodology Mention the type of sampling to be used It may be one

Type or a combination of two types of sampling.

Students should not write all the sampling types. Only

what is to be used for the case study.

Sample Size It has been proved that a sample size of 225 in a

Homogenous group will give a margin of error of + or –

Hence a sample size of 225 can be adopted If the groups

are two then a sample size can be 500

.

Sample Break-up if any as per the case (Quota sampling)

Sampling Unit as per the case study ( housewife, head of households,

students etc )

Sampling Frame as per the case. Everone who has a chance to be

selected for the study is in the sampling frame

Method of Data Collection How the data will be collected ( mail , telephone, malls

Personal interview etc)

Questionnaire Structured or unstructured or both

Qualitative or Quantitative or combination of both

Will it have attitude measurement, if yes mention what

type will be used? Etc

Testing of the The Questionnaire will be pretested

Type of Interview Mail, Mall, House to House personal interviews etc

Interviewer briefing Interviewers will be briefed on how the questionnaire is to

be filled

Back-check 10% of the interviews will be checked. The respondents

will be revisited and reinterviewed.

Tabulation Each question will be tabulated. Cross tabulation will

be done if required

Findings Will be as per the tables

Conclusion Will be based on the findings

Recommendations Based on the conclusions of the study

Report Mention the headings of the report The title page, about

study etc. As per the report writing format

Time for completion 6 to 8 weeks or 2 to 3 months (not much more)

Cost Don’t give any cost. Mention the items that will be taken

Into account when arriving at the cost ie cost of planning

the research, the payment to interviewers, supervisors,

printing of questionnaires, tabulations time spent on

editing, coding and all other expenditures and the profit
