Employees’ net pay may be affected by these changes to taxes. The changes mentioned below will affect all checks issued on or after January 22, 2018. This information is also posted for employees on the Announcements page of the Self Service website. NOTE: The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will be providing additional 2018 tax guidance, including an updated Form W-4 and an IRS tax calculator. We will notify you as information becomes available.An updated version of the Net Pay Calculator is available on the Minnesota Management & Budget website at . The Net Pay Calculator calculates an employee’s biweekly net pay in the same way SEMA4 calculates paychecks and includes federal and State of Minnesota tax tables for 2018. (The program only calculates state taxes for Minnesota residents.) The Net Pay Calculator may be updated with further 2018 federal tax changes as they become available. This program allows agency staff to do “what if” calculations that can assist in answering employee questions. The Net Pay Calculator uses Microsoft Excel. If you are unable to use the calculator, you should contact your agency application software specialist or system administrator. 2018 Federal Tax Withholding ChangesChanges in the federal tax tables will affect all checks issued on or after January 22, 2018. The amount of federal withholding for any employee may decrease or increase depending on the employee’s tax marital status, withholding allowances, and amount of taxable gross pay.
