CLASS CODE: 8354 PAY GRADE: 424 CLASS TITLE: INVESTIGATOR SUPERVISOR - SES ALLOCATION FACTOR(S) This is work in one of the following areas: (1) supervising investigation specialists in the Commission on Human Relations, the Florida Elections Commission or the Division of Licensing of the Department of State; (2) supervising investigators in a section of a regional office or in a satellite office of a region within the Department of Business and Professional Regulation; (3) supervising a unit ensuring compliance with provisions of the Crew Chief Registration Law in a multi-county region of the state; or (4) supervising investigators in the Department of Business and Professional Regulation. The primary duty of the employee(s) in the position(s) allocated to this class is to spend the majority of time communicating with, motivating, training and evaluating employees, planning and directing their work; and having the authority to hire, transfer, suspend, layoff, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward or discipline subordinate employees or to effectively recommend such actions.EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED: (Note: The examples of work as listed in this class specification are not necessarily descriptive of any one position in the class. Motivates employees to improve the quality and quantity of work performed.Plans work loads, work flows, deadlines, work objectives and time utilization with employees.Evaluates employees through establishing evaluation criteria and responsibilities and meeting regularly with employees to ensure the established criteria are met.Trains employees in methods for performing an effective and efficient municates on a regular basis with employees both individually and in staff meetings.Directs the work of employees to ensure best use of time and resources.Develops and conducts intensive training programs for investigators.Reviews and assigns cases to investigators.Coordinates all investigative activities within the assigned area.Supervises a compilation and review of various reports prepared by subordinate investigators.Supervises the investigation of complaints lodged against crew chiefs or employers concerning alleged violations of the Crew Chief Registration Law.Interprets laws, rules, and regulations as they apply to state statutes.Advises subordinates of all policy and procedural changes.Coordinates with other law enforcement officials on illegal activities at the state, local, or federal level.Receives and reviews all field area investigative reports to determine affected financial statutes and regulations and to make recommendations on courses of action.Develops and implements on-the-job training procedures for all area personnel involved in investigations and arranges and conducts special training sessions on new laws and regulations, investigative methods, and departmental requirements.Performs liaison activities with other states and federal officials.Assists departmental legal staff, division directors, and the deputy comptrollers in the development of financial information necessary to carry out departmental statutory duties.Contacts and interviews witnesses and other persons involved in alleged violations.Evaluates evidence of investigations and prepares reports of findings.Assists attorneys in the prosecution of cases.Attends hearings and gives testimony concerning investigations.Performs related work as required.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: (Note: The knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) identified in this class specification represent those needed to perform the duties of this class.
