This grade book allows teachers to place grading emphasis on tests, projects and other important assignments. All grading policies are in accordance with the FWISD Guide to Grading. Please feel free to e-mail me anytime you have questions.Homework is extremely important to student progress and is assigned often. Because students lead busy lives, my homework assignments are usually short and students will have ample time to complete them. Points will be deducted for late work (maximum grade of 70), unless a student has been absent, in which case they are allowed one extra day per day absent to complete the work. It is the responsibility of the student to seek missing work. Homework- 10%Summative- 30% (includes tests, projects, essays, interactive notebook, etc.)Formative- 60% (includes classwork, STING, labs, group work, participation, etc.)Late Work PolicyThe Sixth Grade Team's Late Work Policy- Late assignments will not be accepted any later than one week after the assigned due date. The maximum grade for a late assignment is a 70, and if not turned in within a week of the due date, will receive a grade of zero. Corrections on tests with failing grades must be turned in within a week of the day they are returned to students. Students who are absent have one additional day, per day absent, to turn in work. TextbookWe will be using ScienceFusion, by Houghton-Mifflin-Harcourt. This is a fabulous text that your student will be using almost daily in class. Students will be issued their own “write-in” book that will stay in my classroom. They will not be issued a second book for home. The pages of the book tear out easily, conveniently allowing students to take unfinished work home. The full student edition is also available online, in both English and Spanish. ................
