The Board thanks all members and their guest who attended our 1st Anniversary Gala!

Without you and our dear Sponsors, the event wouldn’t be such a huge success!

Below are just a few comments from our members:

“Thank You Very Much for tonight's event at the Friars Club. I truly enjoyed networking with fellow Paralegals … please sent me the membership application information… I would like to change my status from "prospective member" to "member".

Very Kind Regards,

Heather D.”

“Dear Ms. Letitia Smith,

Thank you for taking the time to speak with me yesterday about working in the paralegal field. It was a pleasure talking with you and I look forward to becoming a member of your organization. Thank you again for your time.

Sincerely,

Nefertari B.”

“It was so great to see you guys on Thursday. Thank you for allowing Amy and I to be a part of such a lovely evening. You have done something really amazing for the paralegals in NYC. I hope you get all the appreciation you deserve.”

Best Regards,

“I had the pleasure of attending Thursday's function at the Friars Club and wanted to thank you for the invitation. My colleague, Nicole Gable, and I had a wonderful time and appreciate being included in the paralegal community. DeltaForce Legal Staffing will continue to be a source of career opportunities but we also want to be known as a resource for paralegal related information and a contributor to your causes.

Never hesitate to reach out to me if I can be of assistance to you and please do keep us in mind for upcoming events. Wishing you a very "cool" day!

Sincerely,

Pro-Bono Committee: probono@nyc-

On Saturday, June 7, 2008, a group of NYCPA members volunteered at the New York City Bar Association’s Pro-Bono Volunteer Naturalization Clinic, held at the Queens Boys and Girls Club in Richmond Hill, New York. The New York City Bar Association partners with the South Queens Boys and Girls Club to bring a naturalization clinic to the West Indies community who are interested in applying for U.S. Citizenship.

The attorneys on hand did the initial legal intake with the attendees, and had the attendees sign waivers. A team of New York City Paralegal volunteers, trained by the naturalization clinic’s supervising attorney, prepared N-400 naturalization applications for approximately twenty immigrants. The volunteers became well versed in the requirements for applying for naturalization, and what potential red flags they should look out for. Paralegal volunteers helped the attendees understand the information being requested of them. Attorneys on hand did the final document review of the N-400 naturalization applications.

It was exciting to help immigrants take the final step in becoming U.S. Citizens. Many are anxious to become U.S. Citizens, so they can vote in this year’s election. The next New York City Bar Association Naturalization clinic will be held in the fall.
