Gaelic spellings are difficult with lots of silent letters. There are also letters which are written the same in Gaelic and English but sound differently. For example “bh” in Gaelic sounds like “v” in English. The place Stornoway is spelt: Steòrnabhagh.
Gaelic also has more punctuation marks than English.
